Tiny Needle Tuesday 8/9/22

 Good Morning All,

Today promises to be another scorcher...though I did see (finally) a good chance (90%) of some strong storms later today and into the evening.  Here's hoping.  Yesterday was simply stifling.  I made it to the office and ended up being there around 2 hours...but got everything done I needed to and now I have no need or reason to go back to the office tomorrow or later in the week.  Yay!

The plan today is to cook some chicken breasts this morning and then make chicken salad and, perhaps, a potato salad for dinner.  Cool things will taste good.  Hot things can taste good too - hot as in spicy.  Yesterday Nance reminded me of my jalapenos.  I have been so focused on harvesting eggplants and tomatoes...and finding hidden hibiscus blooms that I forgot about my jalapenos.  The peppers this year are small.  I don't know if we bought a different variety or what, but they are tiny compared to what we normally grow.  But still, there were enough that I pickled them yesterday.

I also added some cut up carrots and slices of garlic to the mix.  Fletch won't eat these, so they are ALL FOR ME!  LOL  And those small peppers are not small in the heat index.  Spicy, spicy and tasty.

Well, if it's Tuesday, it must be TNT, or Tiny Needle Tuesday.  The upper portion of the Simply Live sampler has been completed and the bottom section has been started!!

I'm hoping to get a bit more stitched on this today.  This piece sure has been a fun one to stitch.  And now I'm on the home stretch (hoping I have not jinxed myself).  I still need to finalize my decision on what piece to stitch next.

  1. Your sampler is looking so good! I love the variety of colors and motifs (and, of course, the message). I hope you do get some rain. We're supposed to get a fair amount this afternoon, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that it holds together as it moves east.

  2. Your pickled peppers look like little jewels in the jar! :)

The humidity is so high here, I swear you could cut the air with a knife! So hard to breathe... and even walking Sherman... at a pug pace... I am sweaty when we return home! These days make it hard to savor August, lol.

  3. We, too, have a chance for thundershowers, but only 40% and scattered. I will keep hoping. We also grew some hot peppers and I tried a tiny little piece of one - way too hot for me! I gave them to Justin so he could pass them along to the hot pepper-loving members of the groundskeeping crew. Your sampler looks lovely! (I originally typed simpler; maybe that's more appropriate!)

  4. We had storms last night, and our highs will only reach 74 today, staying cloudy all day. I hope some breezes start, or it will be another soupy one out there. Ugh.

I'm on MomCare duty today, so my pickling will have to wait. Probably tomorrow will be the day. Yours look great. I always add a little more sugar to my brine when doing jalapenos. What brine do you make?

  5. Mmmmm. Your pickled peppers look divine! (I'd have to fight for my share of them. . . ) I love the sampler -- both the sentiment (which is lovely) and the colors. I can see why it's a fun one to stitch! I'm up north this week, and this morning was surprised to wake up to 52 degrees! It's lovely to be chilly in the midst of this hot summer. I hope this cool spell is headed your way. . .

  6. I used to love hot stuff. I used to make my own salsa when I grew jalapenos but ever since I had that nasty thrush two years ago I can't tolerate hot stuff, bitter/sour stuff or anything too cold. I can't even handle table pepper. Weird.

  8. While the pickled peppers look tasty,I’ll pass. No jalapeño or green peppers for me anymore. I can tolerate any other peppers but not those two varieties. The sampler is one of my favorites of the ones you’ve shared.

  9. We had a pile of rain yesterday and it finally swept away the humidity. It's gorgeous out there right now (and I'm stuck in front of a computer, working). Sadly, temps and humidity are supposed to shoot right up again tomorrow.

  10. I can handle the hot pepper jelly we made, and the cowboy candy, probably because of the sugar. Still need dark chocolate after or sour cream but your canned peppers would send me to the moon.
