It's Thursday!

Good Morning!

Another socked-in grey day here.  I believe we are supposed to have rain most of the day.  Yesterday was fairly busy for me, but I was able to sneak out for an hour and a half for a nice walk on the tow path.  No blue herons were seen and, fortunately, no snakes either.  Just some sleeping ducks.

There were some other ducks in the water and also noisy geese.  A few kayakers were out and there was minimal foot traffic on the trail.  I even wore a bandana!

At first I did feel a little silly/foolish and occasionally my glasses steamed up a bit, but I kept it on the entire time.  I only saw two other people with masks on - two men who were roughly my age, give or take, and they just had the masks around their necks - not covering their mouth and nose at all.  And the point would be?????

I also did some more archery in the afternoon, but nothing worth showing (i.e., no bulls eyes - lol).  It's probably good for me to have a little break from that today.  I can feel it across my upper back and in my upper arms (which need it anyway).

Our Asian Pear buds have now opened!

And I'm afraid my lilac buds were more leaves than flower buds.  There are a few deep purple showing, but not much.  Time will tell.  The mint is coming up nicely (ha!  so invasive...) so soon it will be mojito time!  I have some fresh pineapple in the frig - maybe pineapple mojitos?

Meanwhile, Fletch has been busy.  He has been putting cedar shake shingles on the back side of our house that is under the patio roof.  He finished one section yesterday and re-installed some of the antique tools he has against that backdrop.

It looks so nice!  The other section will require a bit of juggling (he has SO MUCH STUFF on the patio).  He also has two guideboats hanging from the patio roof that are up against the house.  All in good time....

I only managed to knit 4-5 rows on the sock yesterday.  Hoping for more today and that will most likely happen since it will be raining.  I've got several financial reports to run this morning and after that I *think* I may be clear for a bit.

Wishing you all a great day!

  1. Nice to visit you again!!!! I will be slowly catching up but not commenting on all of the posts I missed; I like the look of the new cedar shakes-so fresh!

  2. Your bandanna is a lovely print! I also saw some people with masks around their necks at the grocery store a few weeks ago and wondered what the point was. I hope those Asian Pear buds produce lots of Asian Pears and Fletch's work look great. You should keep him around! :-)

  3. I have to wear a mask and googles all the time when I make soap or bath bombs and it's so terrible. I can't breathe and I can't see anything. I can only last a few minutes at a time before I have to take a break. I wonder how people are doing there shopping in that get up. I couldn't do it.

  4. Tom and I have had several discussions about wearing masks outside, and we've come to the decision that . . . we're not wearing them while running or walking outside. Mostly because we see very few others while we're out -- and we have enough space to maintain a far-greater-than 6 ft. distance out there. But when we venture out to the store to re-stock, we definitely wear our masks! (I had to run into the store to pick up a Rx the other day - with mask - and noticed that EVERY person in the store had a mask on.) (I live in a VERY compliant area. . . ) Be well! XO

  5. Glad you got out. As you know, we're in our small town and when we're out with the dogs, we meet maybe four or five neighbors, and everyone is social distancing--so we aren't going to wear masks either. I think I will start when I go to the grocery store though. Just a bandana like you did.

  6. I need to order my fig trees!

Fletch did a nice job. We have an old two person saw and have no idea where to put the huge thing.

  7. I have to say that I've noticed in my area, men are generally NOT being compliant, overall. Not social distancing, not wearing masks, just plowing on as if all is as it was.

It's more than irritating, it's frightening. I wore a mask and gloves for my quick trip to the grocery store. The men I encountered there were browsing and not one wore a mask, nor did any even try to stay distant from me.

Ohio is doing very well in flattening the curve, but it's probably thanks to its women.

  8. Last night was another "gathering" in my neighbors front yard - no masks nor social distance present. Steve and I shake our heads and wonder what it must be like to be so nonchalant about this. We just don't get it. I am going to wear my mask when I walk in my neighborhood (see the reason above) but if we head out to walk in less populated areas - we won't wear masks.

  9. I made a quick dash to the grocery store yesterday and wore a mask for the first time. It felt awkward, but I’ll get used to it. Stay at Home orders are working in Wyoming - the curve seems to be flattening.

  10. I have a mask that I made, but I haven't worn it yet because I've gone nowhere except the mailbox since I made it. If I go anywhere with people, it will definitely be worn. We don't have to wear them when walking outside unless we're close to people, which shouldn't be happening anyway.
The cedar shakes look great! I love antique tools. It's one of the reasons I like Cracker Barrel. I like looking at the things they have hanging on the walls.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. The shakes look really nice.

It is pouring here right now and the flower petals from the Bradford pear trees across the street are blowing like snow. Our driveway is COVERED in petals.

  12. I hope all those blooms turn into pears! I also hope your lilac has flowers. I'm so excited about mine ready to bloom soon. Tell Fletch that I am SO impressed with his siding and also his antique tools. I have a scythe like that from my grandfather's farm. Don't work too hard. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. Finally catching up ... yay! on that blanket finish and hand-off, the bulls-eye, tackling a dreaded to-do ... and wearing your mask! They're catching on here slowly. We don't wear them on our walks, but some folks do ... and nearly everyone we see out in their cars has them. and gloves.

The pear blossoms look pretty. I love the mint in my tea and mojito. The sleeping ducks and masked selfie are cute. We had some rain and high winds. Crazy weather. Enjoy your day! Wishing you a happy Easter weekend!
