Another Walk!

Good Morning!

The sun came back out yesterday around lunchtime and it had gotten warmer - in the 60's!  So despite the stiff breeze, I went out after lunch to walk.  This time I went back to Oaks and the Perkiomen Trail.  Luckily it didn't stink this time!  There were a lot of people out enjoying the path, but again everyone kept their distance.  The bluebells are pretty much gone by now, but there were some other pretty wildflowers.

It was a little chilly when I started - but, the parking lot is by an open field.  Once on the trail there is a little bit of protection from the wind by the trees.  I walked for about 40 minutes and then turned around to go back to my car.  At one point I went down by the water (there was a little path off the trail) and when I turned around I saw this:

Not visible from the trail - at least I didn't see it.  I believe it is an abandoned Heron's nest!  Abandoned as there were holes in the bottom and just pretty much in shabby shape.  But, still so cool!

So glad I did get out for a walk as rain is in the forecast today and it is grey, grey, grey (again).

I managed to make another Granny Square yesterday afternoon (a slow work day!):

The orange border is Make Do yarn from Vicki and it is pure delight to use.  If you have not been fortunate enough to knit with her yarn I recommend you try to get some (you can still get a skein or two through Ali's coffee shop).  I actually have a new skein coming to me!!

A friend sent me this next one via email and it just cracked me up:

LOL  OK, that's all I've got for today.  It's Thursday (in case you've lost track) and that means I have a bunch of financial reports to run this morning.  Have a great day!

  1. Hello, Yesterday afternoon was really nice. That nest looks huge. Love the wildflowers and your granny square. Today it is really windy, our lights are blinking. Hope the power stays on.
    Take care, enjoy your day!

  2. Oooo! That heron's nest is SO COOL! :-) (I've never seen one. . . ) I'm so glad you had a chance to get out for a walk. Usually when the weather is less than ideal, I dread getting out there. But once I brave the crap-weather, I'm usually so glad I did. Happy Thursday to you, Vera.

PS - I'm using Chrome to comment on your blog today (instead of my usual Safari). You'll have to let me know if it makes a difference . . .

  3. Yesterday was a nice day. Today it is back to rain and that WIND. I am so over that wind. It blew my garden cart into the creek last week and it was a chore to get it out.
I love your granny squares. I've been resisting the urge to start a crochet project. I am so bored with all the things I have going.

  4. That's a cool nest!! I love that my yarn is being used in one of your granny squares! (And thank you for your order -- it's on the way!) I saw that funny graphic the other day and it still makes me laugh. Our booze budget has rivaled food lately. Heh.

  5. That graphic really did make me LOL. I'm still chuckling.

I love to see Spring Beauties. We used to pick huge bunches of them at the park when we were children. They're a sentimental flower for me.

I'm probably not getting out for a good walk today. Our rain is back. Again. :-(

  6. It was gorgeous yesterday: only a puff of wind and deliciously warm. I sat in the sun and soaked it up. Love the drinking graphic.

  8. That heron nest is huge! I've heard there are several bald eagle pairs nesting along the Delaware so I may head out this weekend (assuming it's not raining again) and have a look.

  9. We had a gorgeous day yesterday too. I spent most of it outside. Today the wind is blowing again. What's with the wind this spring. That heron's nest is so cool. I remember seeing them when walking with Mandy around the Chesapeake Bay when they lived in Maryland. They're so big. Like our eagles nests out here.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. You are such a busy bee! Good for you! We've been keeping busy here on our little patch of green. Planting things, watching them grow. It sure has helped keep me sane during this lockdown. Stay safe. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  11. How nice to take another walk! Watch that nest--herons usually come back and rebuild it in the Spring!

  13. You see neat things on your walk! I once saw about 10 heron nests together on a walk. They were occupied! Love the granny square.

  16. Oh yes - I have lost track. I just asked my husband if today was Friday. It is! If one of us doesn't know, the other one does. Cool nest - even if it is abandoned.
