A Weird Day!

Good Morning!

Hope everyone is doing well and that you all had a great weekend (though the days are sort of all running together, aren't they?  Hard to distinguish weekends from weekdays...).

Yesterday I did venture out to my office.  It felt weird to say the least.  I got there around 8:15 and there were 3 other cars in the parking lot.  But, they must have been for other offices, because when I went into our offices, I was the only person there!  Tom from IT was in by 9 and he did his magic to my laptop so that I now have access to the legal database.  My conference call was at 10 and by the time that finished Bruce had come in and I met with him for about 5 minutes.  I saw Dan, our CFO who was in for a video call with our parent company.  Supposedly Bobby (CEO) was in as well but I didn't see him.  And that was it.  So, counting me, a total of 5 people in the office.  So strange.  I did bring home my printer since the one I had at home isn't compatible with Windows 10.

Oh, I did check on the hawk's nest on my office building, but saw no activity.  I don't know if they just abandoned the nest or if they had young who have already flown or what.  I was disappointed not to see them.

By 11:10 I was leaaving.  I stopped by Trader Joe's and had to wait in line about 5 minutes to get in - not bad.  Picked up the few things we wanted/needed from TJ's and was home before Noon.  I spent the afternoon setting up my docking station, monitor, printer, etc.  At least now I can really see the spreadsheets I work on rather than squinting at my laptop screen - my aging eyes don't like the little laptop screen.

I managed to do my workout - I have not missed a day yet!!  And last night we had a fire!

It was getting a bit chilly outside (freeze warning again) and it felt so good.  Colin & Mailing came over for about an hour.  Again - weird to sit around, but apart, and no hugging or anything.  I do not like this!

Walking around, I noticed that our wisteria is getting ready to open.

If we can get a nice sunny day these buds will open up and be gorgeous!

On the knitting and crocheting front...I started a new sock, but more about that tomorrow.  I think this newest pair will be for my sister-in-law out in Boulder, CO.  I have 3 granny squares finished and a fourth that is part way done.

I'm sort of up in the air about this project.  I don't love them.  I don't hate them.  I like making them ok, but I'm not wowed by the whole thing.  I'll make a few more and see what I think then.  I may end up just making a pillow out of them.

What I need to do is pick up that shawl I am almost finished and just finish it!  Also I need to rip out the sweater I was making the other year and re-purpose that yarn.  Maybe those will be my projects for today.  I will work out and maybe take a walk - depends on the wind situation.  I shot a few arrows yesterday, but lost one in the day lilies, so I may have to abandon that practice until I can figure out a way to avoid doing that (better aim would help - lol).

Well, time to get rolling.  My boss is calling in 5-10 minutes and I need to get a fresh cup of coffee before then!

  1. I think your granny squares are charming! I hope you continue making them -- maybe you need to see a few more of them all together before you decide whether they'll work or not! I'm so glad you're all set up for working at home comfortably -- and so proud of you for sticking to your daily workouts. If I didn't move everyday, I know I'd be feeling even worse about everything! Wishing you a good day! XO

  2. I like your crochet! And, I hope they grow on you, because they are stunning! And, I am loving your fire - here in Allegheny Co there is a burn ban. Sigh. lol

  3. I really like the square at the bottom with the blues. VERY pretty.

  4. I love it when things go pretty much as planned and you have a fairly successful day. It sounds like you are all set up to comfortably work from home. (John is wondering if he'll ever want to go back!) I also like your granny squares, but if you don't love them after a few more, maybe a pillow (or potholders?) is a good idea. Have a lovely day!

  5. I'm envious of your dedication to a daily work out. The only daily exercise I've had is my mouth moving while talking about it.

  6. Sounds like a good trip out and about--weird , isn't it?!
The squares look good--make some more and lay them out to see.
    have a good day!

  7. It's great that you got things squared away for work. I'm sure it felt eerie being there in those circumstances. Everything is so odd now.
I get what you're saying about the granny squares. You like doing them, but you don't want to waste your time if you're not sold on the outcome. I suppose you could amass the squares and make an afghan as a donation for something, or just as a remembrance. (As if we'd ever forget these days!)

  8. Your fire is so beautiful! Every darn time it is cold enough for a outdoor fire we have too much wind. All that wood I've piled up out in the yard and I can't figure out to use it up.

  9. Your fire looks great. We already have a burn ban, so no fires at the lake this year. It's crazy, I've never heard of a ban so early in the year.
I'm glad you're all set up to work better from home as it sounds like this may carry on for awhile. I wish Dennis was working from home.
I think your grannies look great!

  10. Happy to hear you’ve settled into a work at home rhythm and have all the equipment to make it easier. Bravo on keeping up with your workout: that’s commendable.

  11. Hello, I love sitting around a fire it is nice you had a visit with your family. The squares look pretty. We did our shop today, all went well considering things are weird. Take care, enjoy your day!

  12. Bravo on getting so much accomplished! I'm glad you got to see your son and DIL even if it was from 6 feet away, better than not at all. I sure do miss seeing our little family of 4. Have a super week. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. I can imagine that going to the office AND TJ's made for a weird morning. Agree on the crochet - keep going! ...and enjoy these cool evenings by the fire. We've had chilly mornings and evenings these past two days, but the afternoons have been delightful with blue skies and spring breezes.

  14. Awww Im so glad you get to see Colin in the flesh!! I'm jealous!! Stay safe.

  15. I am glad you get to see your family, if at arm's distance. I do think it is eerie driving past parking lots of businesses and shops and seeing them so empty. I am headed out to Trader Joe's in the morning - senior hour. Shopping with a mask and seeing everyone avoiding everyone else is definitely weird. Your comment about the sweater "from the other year" makes me smile. We all have those kinds of projects now and again. Knit and crochet what your love is my motto.

  16. Oh yes, the weirdness of going to the store. I find grocery shopping to be so awkward and usually it is my favorite thing to do.

  17. I love your squares! Yay for wisteria blooming and a short wait at Trader Joes. Here there is no line for the grocery store out in the country, yay.
