A Chilly Good Morning to You!
According to my phone it is around 15 outside. That is cold. Mabel is already out there running around. She woke me at 6, had a quick bite to eat and then wanted to go out. She puffs herself up and gets fluffy and warm. Yesterday (I don't think it made it out of the 20's) she was in and out about a million times. Meowing loudly on either side of the door. At one point I saw her run up the apple tree, so I went out with my phone to get a picture.

Yesterday was an easy work day. Thank goodness! I felt worn out and took a good 1.5 hour nap in the afternoon, sleeping so deeply it was difficult to get going when I woke up. There was both stitching and reading that took place, as well as talking to a friend on the phone. There will most likely be another nap this afternoon as last night I managed to be awake from 1 a.m. till 4 a.m.! I hate when that happens!
Anyway, it is Tuesday, or Tiny Needle Tuesday, or TNT. There has been progress made on both samplers. First up is the red alphabet in the Adam and Eve sampler.
There are several more alphabets before I get to the interesting part at the bottom. The next horizontal line across though contains some green...so a tiny change from straight red.
The Visiting Bird sampler is coming along nicely. A lot of solid fill-in stitching, but I am loving the way it looks.
Where the break in the outline on the right occurs is where the legs and feet of the (visiting) bird will be. I may stitch them today!
These are both on 32 count linen, using DMC threads doubled. At times the thread seems a bit thick, but I think a single strand on 32 count is too little. At this point I'm not going to change!
I'm not sure what work will be like today. So far it is quiet. I'm making eggs and biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast - yum! There are a couple of errands I need to run today and whether I walk or not depends on the weather. The wind has been howling - all day yesterday and all night I could hear it. If that calms down I may be able to venture out. Time will tell.

It's fun to watch Mabel enjoying her new surroundings, exploring the great outdoors. She is very cute! We're having a cold snap here, too -- it was 10F when I woke up, but it's already up to 12F. Woo Hoo! Hope your day is a good one, Vera!
ReplyDeleteIt's 14 in MD with a high of 20 (and a predicted 8 tonight). I always feel sorry for Justin in weather like this as he works outside. It's too cold for me! But Mabel doesn't seem to mind and was quick to adapt to the outdoors. Your samplers are lovely and you're making quick progress!

It is cold outside. I feel so bad for my outdoor kitties. We even made a foam core board with a little fabric panel they can push in that we stick it in the door so they can run in and out if they want but other than coming in for food they want out. Go figure.

ReplyDeleteI wish *I* could fluff myself up in preparation for going outside -- right now I'm working up the nerve to get out there for my walk because it's 2 degrees with windchill!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I like the solid colors in the Visiting Bird sampler. I think one strand would be too light, and what you've stitched so far looks really plush.

ReplyDeleteI'm astonished at Mabel's insistence upon being outdoors so much in this cold weather. I can barely stand taking out the trash, and it only requires a few steps out the back door. She looks like a wild thing up in that tree.
I have the same issue with 32 count. Not happy with one strand coverage but two seems bulky. Some linens have thinner threads and two strands are fine, but I don't remember the linen. Will miss reading about your visits, fires, food, with C&M. Wishing them well.
ReplyDeleteMabel looks properly wild in the tree! Relic gets all puffy when he goes out too. Though lately... he hasn't even gone out this morning. He's still sleeping on the blanket box!!! It used to be the first thing he did in the morning.

ReplyDeleteYour stitch projects are both so pretty and neat. I have a project waiting to start. I have socks on the needles and that's all. I need to pick out a sweater to make for our new grandbaby and get started on it.

beautiful stitching, after a week of not doing any stitching I managed to work on the sampler for a couple of hours yesterday.
