Friday at Last

Hello and Welcome Friday (at last)!

32 years ago I was starting to go into labor.  My boy was born just after midnight on the 11th of December.  So Happy Birthday Colin!!  He was over last night for dinner (red beans, brown rice, a salad and a pineapple upside down cake that I made with fresh pineapple - YUM).  He liked his gifts and went home with a bunch of leftover cake for himself and Mailing.

Colin alerted me to the sunset before he came over.  I stepped out on the front porch and looked.

This picture does not begin to convey how vibrant the colors were.  It was gorgeous!  (And that big evergreen tree on the right is planted by our mailbox - it was our Christmas tree 32 years ago!!)

I'm glad it has wound down to Friday.  I do have two conference calls and plan to do some laundry.  Hopefully I can find time to wind some yarn, call to book a massage, do a little stitching and knitting, etc.  Fletch will be out all morning, but unfortunately that is when I will be tied up on my calls.  I might even get some Christmas wrapping done,,,but no rush, I have time.

Wishing everyone (myself included) a wonderful relaxing and peaceful weekend!

  1. Happy Birthday Colin and Happy Colin's Birthday to you, Vera! That is a lovely sunrise and that tree is gigantic! We only had one live Christmas tree survive. I think it's about 25 years old but not quite that big. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Happy birthday to Colin -- and to you (I think mothers should get to celebrate their kids' birthdays -- after all, we did all the work!). I am amazed that that huge tree started out as your Christmas tree!

I hope the calls go quickly so that you can get an early start to the weekend.

  6. Your gorgeous birthday sunset looks like my sunrise yesterday. Unlike the old sailor's adage, we had a beautiful day with no rain.

How wonderful to have that live tree take hold and help you commemmorate a special Christmas and a special birthday, too.

  8. Happy birthday Colin! It's a big month for birthdays around here too starting with the Baby Grand's today and his mom's tomorrow. Next week it's mine and my first son's. Then it's DIL and my first baby grand who I think will be 9? Where does the time go.

  11. Happy Birthday to Colin. Lots of December birthdays aren't there? Your Christmas tree grew beautifully. I love it.
I hope your Friday is going exactly how you had planned it. I'm going to huddle in and knit this afternoon while the snow begins falling.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. Happy Birthday to Colin and to his parents. Yesterday must have been the day for sunsets. My son sent me a photo from Fort Worth and said it was a gorgeous sky.
