Unraveled Wednesday 4/7/21

 Good Morning!

How are you doing mid-week?  Yesterday was such a great day for me.  Another day with a little bit of everything.  A little (very little) work, a little stitching, a little knitting, a walk, some archery, cooking.  All good!

On the archery side of things I managed two sessions yesterday - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  I will admit to not always hitting the target (more often than not I over shoot or go off to one side...and when I'm tired my shots are short.  However, occasionally when I do hit the target I get a really good shot:

Bullseye!!

My walk was nice, but abbreviated.  The wind was pretty brisk and was bothering my ears.  I walked alongside the canal and again, no blue heron sightings.  I did, however, see plenty of sunbathing going on.

Not too many people on the trail either which was nice...a couple of folks walking and a few on bikes.  That was it.

The Beekeeper sock is progressing nicely.  Last night while Fletch read after dinner, I started the heel flap.

I'm not sure why this colorway is called Beekeeper, but I am liking the patterning in the yarn and it's a pleasure to knit with it.

We watched the 2nd episode of Ken Burns' "Hemingway" and enjoyed that.  I only caught the first hour.

No book finishes this week.  I'm back to reading one of the mysteries in a series I'm enjoying.  Certainly not great literature, but entertaining and I'm liking it.  A few more books came in at the library which I have picked up, so perhaps I'll have more to report next week.

I told Fletch I would try to walk this morning before lunch for a change, but the sky is looking rather gray and I think there might be a chance of rain.  I'll check weather.  If not, there is always stitching, knitting and reading to keep me busy.  Hopefully work will remain quiet!

  1. Hooray for a bullseye! I was going to take a drive over to PA where John's brother lives (it's open enough for archery) but it's raining here this morning. That was a surprise to me, but I get my second shot today and a nice rainy day will make it easier to nap if I need to. Your sock is looking great!

  2. Woohoo for the bullseye! I have only ever done archery as a child at camp, and I was pretty terrible at it, so I am quite impressed by that shot.

I hope you're able to get out for a walk this morning. I usually try to walk in the morning to get it out of the way for the day, and I'll walk in anything (I have a good raincoat for rainy days), but I certainly prefer to walk when the weather is good. Sometimes, though, the not-so-nice days mean fewer people to dodge.

  3. Your socks are coming along so nicely! I'm so glad you've been able to "dabble" in a little bit of this, a little bit of that. I like those days best of all! XO

  4. Despite its odd name, that yarn is knitting up beautifully for a sock.

We hit 79 yesterday, and the day was perfect for a walk. I never made it, however; too much to do. I did get outdoors to rake up the yard, and all the windows were open for a full airing-out.

Your bullseye is impressive. I'd never be able to draw the bow!

  8. Sock is looking great! And way to go on the bullseye!
Its been mostly sunny here, but the wind is a bit chill. Very deceiving when you look outside.

  9. Yay for the bullseye! I don't think I hardly ever hit the target when I had our setup in the backyard. It's a lot harder to do than it looks in movies and on TV. My poor arm was black and blue.
I love the texture of the Static yarn. It feels so soft and cushy. I'm pretty sure some more will be jumping into my next Knit Picks cart.

  10. Yesterday sounds like a lovely. Turtles sunbathing just crack me up. They sort of slither off and then pop back up. What a pretty yarn bowl. The sock looks great. I have a few mystery series that I follow. Now and then I need a little light reading. The latest Maisie Dobbs came in on my overdrive account so that will be fun.

  11. I think it's cool that you are an archer. I tried it when I was in scouts. We're watching a TV series that is good "Broadchurch". Set in England. Have a super week! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
