Unraveled Wednesday April 28, 2021

 Good Morning Everyone!

The last Unraveled Wednesday of April 2021.  Unbelievable!!  Also unbelievable is the fact that it is supposed to hit 85 degrees here today.  It's gonna feel like summer for sure!  I'd best find some shorts and lighter weight clothes to wear rather than the flannel shirts I have been living in, along with jeans or pajama pants (I'm telling you, I am quite the fashion plate these days!!).  Along with that, now that I'm fully vaccinated, I NEED to find a hair salon and get my hair chopped (I'm talking a major reduction).  But first there is a bit of work today and also some more laundry.

As usual, I'm linking up with Kat and friends to talk making and reading.  There has been some progress on the knitting front.  Beekeeper Sock #2 now has a heel turned and gusset stitches picked up...on the downside now.

I won't hazard a guess as to when this will be done...whenever I do that I tend to jinx myself and get into a stalling mode - lol.

The French Market Bag is also moving along.  There are now 152 stitches on the needles.

I need to get to 200 stitches and then it will be straight knitting for a bit.  I'd like to get all the increases finished on the DPNs (easier that way as the increases are after the first stitch and after the last stitch on each needle).  The DPNs should easily hold 50 stitches each.  Again, no guesses as to when all this will happen - hahaha.

I haven't finished any books this week.  Fletch and I are still making our way through "Radio Free Vermont" and I've started reading Mudbound which is excellent.  Barbara Kinsolver on the cover states that Hilary Jordan writes with the force of a Delta Storm!!

On a final note, we had a beautiful visitor to our yard yesterday!  Fletch and I were sitting on the patio sipping beverages before dinner when suddenly this bird appeared.

A Towhee!!  We see them occasionally, but they are fairly rare in our yard.

Happy mid-week!  Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  1. I had planned to mow today, but I'm not sure my body is ready for 2 hrs. of pushing the lawn mower in 85 degrees! Your sock and market bag are just lovely, and will be whenever you finish them. I grew up near Lake Towhee (which is near lake Nockamixon) and we used to see towhees there all the time when we canoed. I haven't seen one in years, so thanks for sharing yours!

  2. Oh my! I love Towhee's! Their songs are so magnificent! (and I am with you on that fashion plate level... and hair... really, I am so overdue for a haircut and I am thinking a MAJOR chop as well!)

  3. Lucky you, seeing a rufous-sided towhee. I've never seen one anyplace but the bird books. Send it over!

We got very warm yesterday (82) and will do so again today, with thunderstorms. I'm hoping to get some of the pond detritus scooped out before those kick up.

Love the colour of the market bag.

  4. We had 82 degrees yesterday! I actually got a bit of sunburn working out in my garden. (It's not quite that warm today, though.) Enjoy your lovely spring-summer day, Vera. And your knitting is coming right along! Love that market bag. XO

  5. Hello,

The Beekeeper sock is looking pretty, I like the colors. Great sighting of the Towhee, I usually here them around and not see them. Take care, have a happy day!

  6. I am washing all my summer clothes to get the dust off as I write this. It feels like June out there already and it's not even 10:00. 75% humidity? Ugh. I guess I am going to have to paint my

  7. Still too early to think about wearing lighter-weight clothes. Maybe in another month, I can change to my warm weather wardrobe.

  8. Mudbound just went on my library list.

  9. I have a magnet with two little girls in fifties style bloomers. The caption says, "I base my fashion sense on what is comfortable." Ha. Since the pandemic, I have taken to wearing more sweatpants and yoga pants. Most of my jeans are literally falling apart, in spite of patching. I'm not sure I'm going to replace them as knits are much more comfortable.

  10. One major reason I hope I can continue working from home for the foreseeable future is that I have become so used to wearing comfy clothes, not wearing makeup or jewelry, and rarely making much effort with how I look. I just don't care!

I've been noticing some new birds in the neighborhood lately. I need to find a good way to figure out what they are (I really know so little about birds).

  11. Exciting events on your horizon! I think it will do you good to have your hairstyle revamped-always a perk! Enjoy the warm weather and some real Spring fever! The socks look great!
