Weekending and Technical Difficulties! 2/6/23

Hello and Good Morning (a little later than usual),

How are you and how was your weekend?  If you read Bonny's Blog then you know that she met up with Dee and me for our Saturday get together.  Geeze it was COLD.  But the warmth of friendship prevailed and it was such a nice time.  We met at Starbucks for some sipping and knitting and mostly chatter - also quite a bit of laughter.  Then went to a fun thrift store and finally to Braveheart Pub for a delicious lunch.  I will admit to being exhausted by the time I got home and took an hour and a half nap!  I could have slept longer, but I figured Fletch would like dinner at some point (I was still full from lunch).

Sunday came around as it does and after breakfast Fletch turned on the TV for Sunday Morning.  I was looking up something on the internet when suddenly our internet went out...and the TV...and also our landline (all through Verizon).  Thank goodness for cell phones.  We were on the phone with Verizon for over an hour trying different things and nothing worked.  Finally the Verizon guy said you need a technician to come out to the house.  And, the earliest time that can happen is Tuesday afternoon!  Doesn't that just suck?

Thus, I had to wait until I came into the office to post.  I'll be here longer than I expected since I have no internet at home.  I have a conference call at 11 through Teams, so I'll have to do that here.

Since I will not be able to post tomorrow morning, I decided to have my TNT post today!  Here's an overview of where Ellen Harrison is:

The house is under construction.  Here is a close up:

Let me tell you, stitching the main part of the house (that pale tan color) is not easy on this linen - kind of blends right in.  But that part of the house is finished.  There is more white on the left (also not the easiest to stitch on this linen) and windows and a door in front.  This will bring me very close to the bottom of the sampler!  Obviously there is still a lot to stitch on the other side.

Well, that's it for me.  I actually do have some work to do and I'd like to check out some blogs while I can!  Thanks Dee and Bonny for such a fun Saturday - we need to do it again soon!

  1. Technology is great... when it works!!!
    Your stitches are looking wonderful.
I wish I lived close enough to meet up with you and Dee! (And meet Giroux and Mabel!)

  2. I'm sorry that a wonderful weekend was followed by your technical difficulties! Thanks for including me in your Saturday get-together; it was lots of fun. Tuesday seems like a long time to wait, but I hope Verizon can get things fixed quickly once they get there. I like how you got your TNT post in. Ellen's house is looking good and you might be able to get more stitching done without TV and the internet!

  3. Oh, too bad about your tech outage. It does put you at a disadvantage. I can only imagine all the fun you had on your outing. Hard to believe there wasn't a yarn store trip involved somehow!

  4. Sometimes technology just sucks. And you tend to forget everything you depend on it for, so all of a sudden life comes to a halt. I hope the guy shows up on Tuesday bright and early.

  5. Fingers crossed the tech problem is easily fixed. What fun to knit and visit with two friends on a cold Saturday morning.

  7. I've never appreciated the internet as much as I have when it's gone out and I realize how dependent I am on it! I'm glad that at least you can go into work (though I know you'd rather be home) so you can get things done. I hope they're able to fix it easily. In the meantime, I think you and Fletch will have some good reading time!

  8. So sorry to hear about your internet issues. We have it happen from time to time but it doesn't last long. It's always at the worst time though. Right in the middle of something I'm watching usually.
I hear you about stitching with like colors as the background. I changed the colors of one of my llamas because it was just too close for me to see. There was a time I would just struggle with something like that-not anymore.

  9. Oh rats. I always realize how much I depend on the Internet when it goes out. I hope the problem is an easy fix. The sampler looks so nice. My hat is off to you stitching light colors on light colored linen. I hope you have some knitting and a good (as in hard copy) book to occupy your evenings.

  10. Sorry to hear about your technical glitch. It's such a pain-in-the-patootie when the WIFI goes . . . I hope everything is operational again soon, Vera! Your stitching looks great! XO

  11. Oh Verizon... that same thing happened to us a couple of years ago. It was some issue in the "box" in the basement (I think it was a battery issue.) Once fixed, they assured us this won't happen again and it hasn't... thus far, lol.

I hope your fix is easy and that you and Fletch have some good books to read! XO

  12. Stitching with thread similar to the linen color is miserable! And that house is not small. Not sure I could have done that, yours looks great.

  13. This is a beautiful stitchwork!!! I imagine the solid color could be boring but it will be a striking part of the design when done!
