And Another Week Begins

 Good Morning!

How are you?  How was your weekend?

I'm sleepy.  That seems to be my mantra more and more, but it's true.  I woke at 2:15 this morning hearing Tyg crying on the patio roof (again).  I came down, opened the door, called to him and a minute or two later he was off the roof and coming in the back door.  I didn't fall back asleep though until after 4 a.m.!  And yesterday, I guess due to the time change, Fletch and I were both walking around like zombies.  Normally changing our clocks doesn't really impact me very much, but this time it has.

Oh well, the weekend was nice.  Saturday when I got up the first thing I did was make Cuban Bread.

This is a nice, easy bread to make and the house smelled wonderful!  Colin and Mailing came over for dinner and, since they are still vegan for another couple of weeks, dinner was vegan (and delicious!).  I made the enchilada stuffed mushrooms (no picture - I forgot) and a huge bowl of fresh guacamole.  Mailing brought over some roasted potatoes that were delicious.  I never got around to making a dessert, but it turned out to be just as well since we were all stuffed with the main course.  Fletch got a fire going outside in the fire pit and we sat around out back for a few hours just talking and laughing.  Such a nice evening.

Sunday was a blur.  We did a little grocery shopping and that was about it.  I managed to knit a little.

Working my way down the foot of the sock.  It did not fly off the needles as I thought it might, but the heel flap and turn are finished and I'm partway down the foot now.  This yarn looks so different in plain knitting rather than the pattern that is on the leg.  But, no matter, I like the way it is coming together and I think the intended recipient will like these.

So, it's mid-March already!  Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day and Saturday is the first day of Spring!  Our temps have dropped some and the winds have picked up again (March Lion).  I will be working out inside this week rather than walking.  I also think some rain is in our forecast later in the week.  I had thought I'd go to the office today, but now think I will wait until tomorrow.

Wishing you all a great start to the week and hoping for those of you in the path of the Spring snowstorm that you are not getting dumped on too much!  Stay warm!!

  1. Hello,
We went from some nice warm weather down to the 20's this morning. It is cold, winter is not over yet. I had trouble sleeping last night, I wish they would stop the hour time changing. Your sock looks so pretty, I really do love the colors. Your bread looks delicious, I will have to look up the recipe. Enjoy your day, have a great new week!

  2. I hate turning the clocks ahead -- no matter how early I get to bed, I always seem to be tired the next day! I thought I'd catch up last night, but then our neighbor's car alarm went off at 3 a.m. and woke us all up. At least if I nod off during work today, no one will be around to catch me!

  3. It was such a lovely weekend... sunny, not too warm, just right for getting some outdoor work done! That bread looks so delicious! The clock change kicked our butts as well (or maybe it was all the outdoor work, lol) Either way Sunday we were both dragging a bit. (but that wind! it was crazy here yesterday!)

  4. call me nuts but I think I am adjusted already to the time change, I am never ever good with the spring one. Who knows why I am good this time. This weekend was so very nice!!!

  5. I hate the spring time change, but for some weird reason . . . I usually adjust to it much easier than I do to the fall change. It seems counterintuitive to me, but whatever. I hope your week is an easy one, and that you have plenty of time to catch up on your rest. XO

  6. I felt like a zombie yesterday and am dragging today. You've given me the idea that baking bread might help, and it will certainly make the house smell good and feel warmer. We walked yesterday, against the wind all the way, so it felt like a real workout!

  7. Oh, homemade bread--is anything better? Your loaves look delicious. And guacamole sounds wonderful, too. I could eat like that with no problem.

Why are we still changing clocks in 2021? Seems so archaic and stupid to me.

  8. That sock yarn is so pretty. I finished my second pair of socks this weekend and did not make good food choices so this morning I am tired and sluggish. Not a good way to start the week.

  9. I was up all Saturday night too. I was a zombie all day yesterday and hated that it stayed light for so long. I wanted to crawl back into bed right after dinner and call it a day.
I love the colors on that sock. They are such pretty blues with great contrast.

  10. I was OK yesterday, but today... is it naptime yet?? Haha. That won't be happening because I'm at work. But I sure could use one!

We started looking at houses this weekend, I feel like I haven't slept a wink!

  12. The time change and the persistent wind over the weekend zapped all my energy and disrupted my sleep. I love the turquoise and navy in the yarn: they make a gorgeous sock.

  14. I'm struggling with the time change...I always do! I have shut my door to the cats for the last week so that they don't wake me up!
Rest up--the bread looks wonderful! And the sock--I love the difference in the patterning of the color between lace and stockinette!

  15. Sounds like such a nice time with your kids. We got invited to our son's house for dinner yesterday when we took our grandsons home. Nice sock! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  17. Dennis and I had a difficult time yesterday too. That's unusual for us in the spring time change. We could barely stay awake last night and then I didn't sleep well at all.
Your bread looks great and the time with the kids sounds like so much fun. I'm so looking forward to being around family in a few weeks, although I'm going to miss Dennis terribly.
Our weekend was gorgeous with bright blue skies and temps in the 60's. We got a lot of things packed in my car and some work done in the storage facility.
    Take care and stay warm.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
