Unraveled Wednesday 02-17-21

 Good Morning!

How are you on this Wednesday?  I woke at 3 a.m. and never got back to sleep so...I'm a bit drowsy this morning.  I was up early (obviously) and found my way to the office...some things I needed to do.  It is now approaching 9 a.m. and I am finished what I needed to do at the office.  After I write this post, I will head to Trader Joes, the liquor store (more snow forecast for tomorrow) and Staples.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day!  Spring-like even.  Blue skies, sunny and temps in the 40's.  Today it is back to frigid weather and (as I mentioned above) snow is in the forecast for tomorrow.  Supposedly 3-5", but who knows?  It will be nice to not have to go anywhere.

I did get to the vet's yesterday and picked up the de-worming medication for Tyg.  Thank God!  She recommended two doses - one yesterday and one a month later to be sure those "bad boys" are gone.  I agree.

Meanwhile, it is Wednesday which means Unraveled Wednesday.  As usual I am linking up with Kat and friends to talk about what we are making and reading.  First up is the Heart Warmer Cowl.  Gosh I love this knit!  The Bobble section is finished and I started the next section which is Broken Rib.  After that comes a Smocking stitch which I am interested to try.

Still loving the yarn and the way it is knitting up.  I should have gotten a better picture, but it was late last night when I took this (and the others).  Better shots next time.

My Yule Wave Sock (#2) is now at the heel flap.  I usually just knit on this after dinner while Fletch reads (which means every other night since we take turns reading).

Again, not a great picture (and it flipped sideways).  Once I get the heel done and the gusset stitches picked up, it should fly down the foot.  I really like this and I've enjoyed knitting it and doing the color work, but I'd like to start a new pair of socks.

Last, but certainly not least, is my Guernsey Wrap.  I've now completed 40 rows (the first chart is 78 rows and you knit it twice and then knit rows 1-58 again).  Loving the yarn (KnitPicks Wool of the Andes), loving the color (Mink Heather) and loving the knit.  FUN!!

Again, the picture flipped sideways.  Oh well!  At least you can see the different sections in this picture.

On the reading side of things, I am still working my way through "Monogamy" by Sue Miller.  I'm not thrilled with it, but having read about two thirds of it, I will finish.  I certainly don't feel compelled to pick it up every day, but other books have come through from the library that I would like to read, so...I will continue to plug away.

And I guess that's a wrap for me.  Wishing you all a wonderful mid-week!

  1. You've got three great projects, all moving along nicely. Waking up so early may not be fun, but at least you've got a chance to get supplies before the next storm. You might need liquor and rulers! :-)

  2. So much knitting going on! I've not picked mine up in a week. The weather has made my arthritis flare up.

If we ever get into double digits today, I'll make my own run to the grocery store for a few things. (Now that Rick's dug us out: It took him an hour and a half last night with the snowblower and shovelling. I'm so sick of snow.)

  3. I too have been up since 3am this morning, not sure why, but think a nap will be on the agenda today. We had spring like weather as well yesterday and today-----more cold and snow through tomorrow, not complaining, I love it!
Your knits are beautiful and well on their way to 3 finishes and with snow on the way, I will not be surprised to see finishes next week. Stay warm!

  4. Waking up that early is no fun! I hope you can manage a little cat nap later.

I love the texture in the start of your wrap. It looks like a long-term project but one that will be well worth all the time.

  6. The last two mornings I opened the curtains and discovered new snow - about six inches total. Thankfully, this time of year it doesn’t hang around too long, but at noon, the streets are still covered. Love all of your knits, the cowl especially.

  7. the meds should help Tyg soon! Good. We had a lovely day yesterday and today it is gloomy again....it's hard to wait for sunshine and mild temps! Nice progress on each of your lovely knit projects!

  8. More snow for us tomorrow too, and although the sun is shining brightly today it is deceptive because it's still cold.
Your knits are beautiful and I wouldn't be able to choose a favorite among them.
I'm so glad you got the meds for Tyg. Poor thing. You'll both feel better once they take effect.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. What lovely projects!!! I had to laugh at your liquor store run because of the ugly weather headed our way. The Mister just said the same thing but talked himself out of it. I had visions of that door scene in The Shining if he did so I am happy he decided to skip the booze. Another round of cabin fever here will not be pretty.

  10. The Guernsey Wrap is coming along nicely. I love how the stitches show up so well with that yarn.

Tell Tyg that we hope he is feeling better soon. Worming a cat .....fun times.

  11. Lovely knitting, Vera! I hope you enjoy the books coming through from the library more than the one you're reading. . . Hope the de-worming meds make quick work of Tyg's uninvited guests. XO

  12. I can understand why you are tired. Three a.m. is way too early. Very nice knitting. The cowl looks like a fun project.

  13. Wow.. you're very prolific with your knitting! The cowl is going to be beautiful and will keep you nice and warm. The Guernsey Wrap is quite amazing. We're watching a series called "Shetland", murder mysteries set on the island of Shetland. Each episode at least 2 people die and we're thinking it's a pretty deadly place to live. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  14. Hello,
I love all your knitting projects, they look so pretty. I usually wake-up too early and I can never go back to sleep. It is snowing here already, looks like a few inches on our deck this morning. I hope TYG is back to normal soon. Take care, enjoy your day!

  15. I love your Heart Warmer! That yarn is gorgeous! Wow!I have a skein of "heavy lace weight" yarn that I am thinking will be perfect for it... the perfect lighter spring accessory! (we got dumped on with snow over night again... sigh)
