TGIF 01/29/21

 Good Morning!

Whew!  It is SO windy out there.  It was howling all night and woke me up with windows rattling.  This has been going on for days now and it needs to STOP!!  Looks like we could be in for some snow starting on Sunday going into (possibly) Tuesday.  Of course, snow forecasts have not been accurate for some time, so who knows?  We will just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile I finished the Lace and Cable section of my Heart Warmer cowl.

Next up is the Interrupted Rib section which should go faster than the Lace and Cable section.  For some reason that one caused me to have some fits!  LOL  I'm glad that section is finished.

On the reading front I finished "The Falcon Thief" and enjoyed it quite a bit.  Some of it was a little long winded, but interesting too.  And I'm almost finished "Some Writer!" which is about E. B. White.  Really enjoying that book a lot.

I wanted to show you one of my Christmas gifts.  Zhongren (Mailing's Dad) has been making these little wooden houses/buildings over the past year.  Very detailed with thatched roofs, windows, etc.  Every time we've gone over to their house, I've admired what he has made and, well, Christmas found one under the tree for me!

His creations are all numbered and signed.  So cool, huh?  Here's another shot from a little further away:

I love the way it looks on our buffet with our little fairy light tree.

Well, time for another cup of coffee.  I'm thankful that I only have two conference calls this morning - the third one has been cancelled.  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

  1. That little house is such a treasure!

We're supposed to get snow here too over the weekend, but they can't seem to decide how much. I guess for as often as they're right (not), a forecast of "some snow, who knows how much" is as accurate as any. Stay warm out there!

  4. That winds is making me crazy. My yard is a disaster from everything blowing around but I'm not going out there under those trees to pick anything up.
That little house is darling! What a talent.

  5. What a thoughtful and unique gift. I know you'll treasure it.

The forecasters haven't been accurate here for days and days. I'm not sure if I'm a little smug about it because it shows that Nature always has the upper hand, or if I feel uneasy because that shows that things are changing and Man isn't up to the job anymore.

  9. The house is adorable. I like handcrafted items like that. I’ve seen your fairy lights tree advertised on Facebook, and I’ve been tempted to order one. I hope your weekend is a good one.

  10. What a beauatiful little house and how nice of him to make one for you too. The details are really nice. The little tree looks perfect next to it.
I'm sorry about your wind. We've had chilly, but not real cold weather the past few days-20's at night and 30's during the day. Not bad for this time of year, and no wind which is always nice.
Rain is predicted for next week. Every day with no snow brings us closer to spring!
I hope you have a great weekend Vera!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  14. I'm also enjoying The Falcon Thief and thank you for the recommendation. That little house is incredible, especially next to your tree. I ignored the snow forecast but I'm taking it a bit more seriously now as we have to travel back to MD on Sunday. Hope you're having a good weekend!
