Hello, Hello,
Everyone feel a little better now? I know I sure do. Yesterday ended up being peaceful (thank God). I thought Biden's speech was excellent and Amanda Gorman - WOW!!! Even though I'm feeling better and more hopeful, last night was another wake up at 2 a.m. I did get back to sleep eventually but then the alarm went off at 6 a.m. I have to head back to the office which is not what I had planned for today. But, there are more contracts and documents to print that need to be signed in ink (as opposed to me putting someone's electronic signature on them) and additionally they have to be notarized. So, Bill and I are heading in and Jen will meet us since she is a notary. Thursday is my big "get out a bunch of financial reports" day, so I will likely be there for a little while. Oh well....
I did manage to get a little bit of knitting accomplished yesterday:
The beginning of Yule Wave #2. The cuff ribbing is complete and I've started the grey part of the leg. I think another 12 rows or so and then will do the colorwork (with a slightly larger needle). The 1x1 twisted rib is nice, though it takes me longer to do than a normal 2x2 plain rib. But I like it for a change.
Another chilly morning (18 degrees), so I'd best dress warmly. I'm curious to look up when I walk toward the front of my office building. The hawks may be back! Remember we had nesting hawks on a light fixture at my office building a year ago. They made an awful mess of the walk way and windows, but it sure was fun to see those baby hawks. Tuesday when I was at the office I noticed some sticks on top of the light fixture again. I'm curious to see if there are more today. If it is the hawks, I'll be curious to see if property management allows the nest building to continue or if they will try to discourage it (or take it away). No one is going into the office (my entire building - 3 floors) is empty, but I also know it took them a long, long time to clean up the mess last year.
Time for another cup of joe and then get dressed to go out in the cold. Have a wonderful Thursday!
Happy Thursday! A lighter, more hopeful Thursday! I agree with you, I like how twisted ribbing looks (although it takes a bit longer)
ReplyDeleteI felt so much better waking up this morning! (Yesterday I was excited but also nervous.) The sock is looking good so far and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the colorwork works out better this time.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a wonderful, amazing day! It really started to sink in when Ryan called after watching Joe's speech and said he felt hopeful for the first time in four years. I hope today is a good day for you (and I'm rooting for the hawks, too)!
ReplyDeleteI stayed up way too late last night, so I feel tired today. But good tired.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope the hawks are there!
The socks will be good to knit again--I like to try to tweak things on the second pair like this!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I feel terrific today! And NEO is a bit sunny in celebration.
ReplyDeleteI hope the building management/maintenance allows the hawks to nest. They could put up some netting to catch any Unpleasantness. It's far more important to nurture the raptor population. At least I think so.
Happy Thursday! I hope the work you have to do at the office goes smoothly. Let’s hope if the building management doesn’t want the hawks to nest that they take action quickly so the pair can nest somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteHope you're not stuck at the office too long today. Its going to be a slog of a work day for me today - but if I get it all done, I can have a free day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope the nest is allowed to stay this year. I would love to see the babies as they grow and leave the nest.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember ever doing the twisted rib. I would love to give it a try sometime.
Blessings,
Betsy
I've been going the bed right after dinner and falling asleep on and off for the rest of the night. It's a bad habit I need to break but as soon as it gets dark...I'm done.
ReplyDeleteI was so worried all day yesterday that something would blow up that I still have ptsd this morning...but all is good today. Here we go!
ReplyDeleteYour socks will be great. OH I hope the birds come back and are healthy! Maybe someone could put some ? cardboard or something up for the messy nest to sit on?
ReplyDeleteI hope your new socks work out like you plan.. and I agree on the day today seems like a new world. I have blog readers from around the world commenting how happy they are for us and many watched the whole inauguration on BBC!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI feel much better and slept like a babe on Wednesday night. I thought Biden struck the right tone in his speech. More and more I admire the man. The entire ceremony was a breath of fresh air. I hope you get some sleep tonight. The start of the sock is lovely. Twisted rib is such a finished look.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI feel a little more relaxed now too, it was a perfect Inauguration.
Your sock is pretty, I love the cute bird on the bowl. I wish the hawks good luck with their nest. They seem to have picked a bad spot. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy weekend!
grey and red is where it's at! Love those color combos. I loved inauguration day and I hope the rest of the four years are PEACEFUL.
ReplyDeleteLots of gray and red here at this house for The Ohio State University where my oldest son swam. I think we all have a bit of PTSD after the last four years. Wednesday was amazing. Stay safe.
