Hello and Good Morning!
First of all, Happy Birthday to my friend Carol! May this year be one of joy and good health for you.
Second of all, it's snowing! Yup, we had a dusting (again) on Friday, but today more is expected. They are forecasting 1-3" for us. But, of course, they don't really know what they are talking about. When I look at our radar map, it appears that it could snow through 1 p.m. - that is 6 plus hours of snow, so we shall see. Meanwhile, it is cold and periodically the wind is still howling around.
Some unraveling occurred. The entire cowl that had gotten to the 20th row or so was taken off the needles. Apparently I cannot work on lace work when there are distractions (TV) in the background. I'm back to where I need to start the lace work and cables, so wish me luck (and some peace and quiet).
Yesterday I did venture out. We were low on sunflower seeds and with the storm predicted, wanted to be sure we had enough for our feathered friends. And, since I was out I also picked up wine - it would be horrible to get snowed in without wine! LOL
Yesterday I did more stitching and some knitting and also cleaned off my desk. That took some time. I have journals out that I will use for 1) books that I read or listen to in 2025 and 2) a journal to record my walking. More things were pulled together for the donation bag. I would like to pull things together to donate to our local food pantry - a bunch of "food stuffs" are on shelves in our basement, so if I can tolerate being in the basement (it's cold!!) I will do that.
Today the plan is to do more knitting and stitching, a bit of reading and maybe some more organizing of "things." It is so easy for stuff to pile up and before you know it, it's overwhelming to deal with it all. I also took Thanksgiving turkey out of the freezer so that I can make mini turkey pot pies for dinner.
How was your weekend? Please stay warm and safe - especially if you are in the path of the storm.
Sorry about the cowl. I hope attempt #2 goes better. Stay warm today! It's snowing here today as well, and I've heard 3-5 inches. It's enough that Molly has a snow day -- and I'm happy to not have to drive in it to pick her up!
ReplyDeleteWait - do I see that you are going to use a journal? Welcome to the club. Next you will choose a word for the year 😉
ReplyDeleteI thought the snow missed us because there wasn't any when I woke up, but it is snowing quite hard now. I also wondered about the amounts since it's supposed to snow for a good portion of the day, but I guess we'll get what we get. The yarn for the cowl is quite pretty, so I hope your next attempt is a better one. I have a recipe for creamy turkey soup that I want to try but I'm not making turkey breast 'til tomorrow. Enjoy your turkey pot pies!
ReplyDeleteWe have snow but it's not as much as they said it would be, I keep hoping that there will be more. double the knitting fun you are having!!!
ReplyDeleteI am sending good juju for attempt no. 2! I am busting through my "tasks" today so I can watch Vera this morning! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteIt's 10 am here in MD and we have about a foot of snow and it's still coming down. As much as I love snow, it's too much for me.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cowl. I live with a man who can't walk through a room without holding a conversation with anything that will listen so I feel your pain about needing quiet. I made the mistake of setting up a puzzle on the dining room table in our open space living area so he's up here all the time chatting away while he works on it. Ugh.
The best place to watch the weather . . . is from the warmth inside your house! Enjoy your hunkering-down day, Vera! XO
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the cowl. I think we all feel your pain, but it sounds like the perfect day to start over. We didn't get any of the storm, thank goodness. It's VERY cold and windy, but the snow was a measly 35 miles or so south of us. I'm happy. No snow! Enjoy your snow day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Sorry about the ripping out! It happens! Our temps are mild this morning but are dropping for low 30's the rest of the week which means the end to a lot of flowers!!!!
ReplyDeleteEnsuring the birds are well feed is always in our storm preparations too! Hope the storm isn't too bad for you. It's cold here, but no snow.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the snow! Sunflower seeds and wine is so much more charming than bread and milk and eggs!
ReplyDeleteWas it a weekend??? haha. I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine! It's been a crazy couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteOnly a small of amount of snow fell on Saturday night and it’s all but gone this morning. I’d welcome a nice snowfall instead of the bitter cold wind that’s been hanging around.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm, hello, Ms. I-dont-journal, what's up with those 2 journals? (This is an awesome development.) I think turkey pot pie on a snowy night sounds incredibly cozy and perfect. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThankfully, we just got rain from that storm. Glad you're able to enjoy it from a safe, warm place ... full of books, knitting, stitching, and a delicious potpie!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with that cowl. The yarn is very pretty. We had a cold weekend with about 1.5 inches of snow but also stayed indoors. I would have liked more but will take what we get. Stuff has a way of piling up. I spent the weekend making a little order around here and it felt good.
