Ending the Week...and the Month

 Hello My Friends,

Let's wave goodbye to January as we welcome February tomorrow.  It's been a long month, huh?  And so much negativity - it is truly wearying.  Add to that today's weather which is damp and grey.  We are supposed to have rain on and off all day long.

But yesterday the sun was out and I decided to get out and clear my head.  I drove over to the River Walk in Valley Forge Park.  There were just two other cars in the parking lot and I did not see a single soul during my walk.  I had to walk slowly and cautiously at times as there was a lot of ice on the trail.

The ice was not thick, but it sure was slippery!  There was also ice at the edge of the Schuylkill River.

There were some ducks on the River, but I did not see any other birds or creatures.  I enjoyed the solitude so much.

When I turned around to walk back to my car, I discovered that it was still a bit windy.  Enough that my eyes watered and my nose was running.  And, despite wearing an ear band and having a scarf wrapped around my neck, I was a little chilly.  Still, though, it was a beautiful day and I'm glad I ventured out.

That blue sky was amazing!!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow evening for a Lunar New Year celebration.  And, of course, getting in some Iris snuggles.  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend - enjoy!!

  1. That blue sky... it was a treat here as well! There is nothing like the fresh air to clear out the cobwebs! Enjoy your Lunar New Year celebration! XO

  2. I've been out walking every day and it's felt wonderful. I was wearing boots with lots of traction, and then found that I could wear my usual walking shoes if I diverted to the street whenever I encountered an unshoveled, icy sidewalk. It's so uplifting to be able to be out and moving.

Enjoy your dumplings and Little Dumpling snuggles. (I get to see mine, too!)

  3. I am jealous of your pretty places to walk.
I walked to the post office yesterday and there were definitely some treacherous spots. For some reason this town doesn't enforce sidewalk clearing except in the small block of downtown. In fact, there's a bylaw that "closes" the sidewalks for the winter. We are expected to walk on the road, which just doesn't make sense to me. (I've either lived in big cities where everyone is responsible for clearing the walk in front of their house, or in the country where there are no sidewalks) There's a gentleman who goes around the town with his little plow and does the sidewalks after a big snow... but only big snows, so all the little ones have piled up and makes many of the sidewalks a mess.

  4. You're brave to walk on the icy paths, but it sure does look like a beautiful day, and to not see anyone else makes it even better. It's a gray and rainy day here, but at least it's not snow and we still need the rain. Enjoy your Lunar New Year celebration and snuggles with Iris!

  5. That's just a beautiful blue sky, Vera! Thanks for sharing it . . . as we don't get a lot of that here in the winter. Enjoy your celebration tomorrow -- and especially the Iris snuggles. XO

  6. We've had beautiful blue skies like yours every day this week except yesterday when it drizzled rain off and on all day. Today is gorgeous again and supposed to be in the 50's. It's been the strangest winter. We haven't had ANY snow except an unmeasurable one in December. I'm not complaining but the farmers are sure worried. We do need moisture.
Enjoy the party tomorrow, and Iris too!
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. See, this is my problem with walks outside --- the wind and the having to walk back to wherever you started from! It's grey and rainy here today too but at least it's not bitter cold like last week.
