Hey Everyone,
Good Morning! Man is it cold here in Eastern PA. It snowed all morning yesterday! Despite that, we only got about 2" or so of snow. Which is fine with me. Then it snowed again last night for a couple of hours, but just a dusting. And the wind! Still howling around outside. It's hard to remember back to those sweltering summer days when I was wishing for winter! LOL
Finally, finally, I got back to stitching a little over the weekend. It felt like years since I had picked up a needle.
Another sunflower was added to the left of the house as well as a third black cat and another red squirrel. So many critters!! A little more of the woman's dress was stitched, but there is still a long way to go on that.
Winter has taken a toll on my hands. Or, more specifically, my right hand. I have a crack that has formed at the top of my thumb. My right index finger is covered in eczema (at least that's what I think it is). It's a wonder how something can itch and hurt at the same time! At any rate, this has made stitching a little difficult and also knitting. I have a dermatologist appointment at the end of the month and I'll be happy to have my doctor take a look at my hand.
Looking forward to seeing some of you tonight for our Zoom book discussion with Kym, Carole and Bonny!
I love how the sunflowers look like quilt squares!
ReplyDeleteI totally empathize with the dry skin and eczema issues. Molly and I both suffer from them at this time of year. There is not enough moisturizer in the world!
Your house is looking lovely! I wouldn't mind a big quilt square and a crown in the sky above my house, and I wouldn't be surprised if I actually had a squirrel sitting on my chimney. My hands are awful also. I have to cover the cracks in A&D ointment and then cover them with a band-aid but they are infuriating and they hurt. Sometimes I just have to give up and dab a bit of super-glue on them.
ReplyDeleteI am nodding along with painful winter hands! I have cracks on both thumbs that are really painful. I am hopeful that your dermatologist can provide some relief! (and I am looking forward to seeing everyone tonight too!)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to pick up a needle, even with your painful thumb. I have psoriasis as do my siblings. Winter is particularly bad and for some reason it's much worse here than it was in Washington.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a good book club last night.
Blessings,
Betsy
Oh, ugh. Sorry to hear about your hands! I used to get terrible cracks in my fingers, but it doesn't seem to happen anymore, thankfully. (I have no explanation for this, and didn't do anything to prevent it . . . ) I hope your dermatologist can recommend a solution. Your stitching is really lovely, Vera. I love your current sampler.
ReplyDeleteAbout three inches of snow fell last night. I doubt that more will fall today, but it can’t be ruled out. Sorry that you’re dealing with painful cracks on your hands. While crafting is difficult right now, you can still enjoy a book.
ReplyDeleteBrrr....it's cold here too in the 20's but with the sun it felt quite pleasant out while we did our shoveling duty. I think we got about 10 inches if you split the difference between what I think we got and what The Mister thinks we got....lol.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy seeing your little world working up in your stitching. Too bad about your thumb. I poked a hole in my index finger ages ago with that awful needle punch tool and it still hurts if I hit something with it. I have to wear a thimble when I sew and it's a nuisance.
stay cozy!!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your hand! Both my sister and my daughter suffer with that all winter! Even so, the sampler is very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHI I suffer from hand problems too and I think you might have chill blains with itch and ache and are red usually at the end of fingers Robyn Australia
