Good Morning,
Well...it's kind of cloudy out there again, but I doubt it will rain today and we didn't really get enough rain to mention yesterday. Disappointing. At one point, Fletch came into the office to tell me it was starting to sprinkle. We ran out because I had two loads of wash on the line. The wash had gotten pretty wet, so we just left it on the line. The sprinkles stopped and within an hour and a half, the laundry was dry. Yup - Fletch watered the garden last night.
Also noticed that the leaves of our eggplant plants on the patio are covered in some disease or fungus. Fletch moved the pot back and away from the herbs so that the leaves would not touch them. I plan to harvest the eggplants today or tomorrow. Our neighbor Rob has a very large garden and he has discovered the many of his plants are getting moldy (he thinks he may have over-watered). As Bonny wrote yesterday, everything around here is just so parched.
Enough of that same-old-same-old story. It's Tuesday and time for a Tiny Needle update. Not surprisingly with all my weekend activity and friends visiting, I did not get that much stitched on my sampler, but I did get a few motifs stitched.
The corner has been turned!! There is more to this sampler though. After I get the bottom motifs stitched, there is a border under them and then the full alphabet. So, still a little bit of a way to go. I've been going over options (in my head) for my next piece and I'm pretty sure it will be a BIG one. I'll need to get moving and order some fabric though. The look of this sampler on 40 count appeals to me so much that I will most likely go with a high count linen again. Still TBD, but that's the way I'm leaning.
Yesterday wasn't too bad work-wise and I'm hoping for more of that today. I'm working on the two meetings/events (Florida in late August and Arizona in September) and that is keeping me busy. Fletch and I will do a quick grocery shopping today (if nothing else, we definitely need cat food - lol). I'm at the point where I've started dreaming of soups and chilis and stews and winter comfort food...but we are not yet there temperature-wise.
Wishing you all a wonderful Tuesday - enjoy!!
I wish the rain was something we could turn on and off -- it would be great to get a little overnight every day so that we didn't have to water! We're expecting more storms tomorrow and Thursday, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that they make their way across the state.
ReplyDeleteParched is a good way to describe it. I am hoping that we all just get a couple of days of good soaking rains!
ReplyDelete(I really love that stitching, Vera... I think that saying is just perfect and I might need to find something with it!)
A cold front has gone through here and left us able to turn off the AC and open up. It's high seventies, low eighties now for at least a few days. Heaven!
ReplyDeleteNow I'll have to weed. Sigh.
I'd be so tempted to finish the border of that sampler and be done. The sentiment would dictate a simpler sampler (ha ha), and it would look so pretty that way. But I am not a Needlepoint Artiste. Far from it.
I was so cranky yesterday, watching the chance of precipitation drop from 90% down to 6% in a couple hours and not a drop of rain. It's a good thing I'm not a farmer! But your stitching is beautiful and I really like all the different motifs in that sampler. I'm dreaming of fall and fall food also but we still have to get through August!
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the rain. That's what last week was like - we'd get a sprinkle, but not enough to make much of a difference. Temps are rising again, but they say more rain for us tomorrow. They lie a lot, so we will see, lol.
ReplyDeleteYour sampler is looking fantastic!!!!
Temperatures have been cooler and more pleasant so far this week, but no rain. Sorry that the eggplant has been hit with a fungus. I hope it doesn’t strike your other garden plants.
ReplyDeleteThe stitching gets better and better! I really like that one. We did get rain yesterday. Buckets. It was nice and cooled it down a bit but added to the humidity. The windows are all steamed up.
ReplyDeleteThat stitching is so pretty. Sorry about the lack of rain. Another reason I am happy that I don’t have a veggie garden this summer.
ReplyDeleteThis sampler is so very pretty--just better each time! Hope the eggplants are ok even if the plant isn't!
ReplyDeleteThis sampler is one of my favorites. The colors are pretty and I like the motto or quote. Your weather sounds quite oppressive. I hope significant rain falls soon.
ReplyDeleteI am loving that sampler - the colors and the stitching are pure perfection :)
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoy your stitching progress! Turning a corner sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFor whatever reason this didn't show up in my feed til today. Love this one!
