Tiny Needle Tuesday

 Hello and Good Morning!!

Yesterday at this time it was in the teens.  This morning?  36.  That's above freezing and lends hope.  According to the radio guy, today is supposed to hit 63.  The hope/plan is to get out for a walk either late morning or early afternoon.  Time will tell.  I want to get into some (or give it a try anyway) Nordic Pole Walking so I'd best look for my poles - I think they are in the back of my car.

But first:  Tiny Needle Tuesday.  You would think/guess that with two weeks since I last posted about stitching I would have a lot to show.  That is not the case!  All I managed to do in those two weeks is the start of another motif at the bottom of the sampler.

The little bit of red is the beginning of another motif.  It is not even halfway finished!  Honestly, I felt more like knitting (and thus, managed to finish heart Warmer which I posted about yesterday).  I'm not bored with this project or tired of it, I just felt like doing something different.  So I did.  Maybe next week there will be more progress to show.

Fletch and I did see some hints of Spring yesterday.  In the morning before I left for the office, I looked out back and there had to be at least 10 Red Winged Blackbirds in the yard - under our sunflower seed feeder.  I love Red Winged Blackbirds - always makes me think of getting to the lake in Vermont as we would always see them along the roadway leading to the lake.  Around here, we usually just see them for a little bit in the Spring.  We often hear them, but don't always see them.  But to have 10+ in the yard was a wonderful gift!

Later in the afternoon Fletch came in and told me a small patch of crocus had finally appeared in our bed alongside the driveway.  Another welcome sight for sure!

Looks like that bed could use some cleaning!  Now I need to see if our snowdrops are coming up.

Colin texted that he saw deer in the backyards around him as well as a little rabbit running along the fence and a disappointed fox skulking off in the opposite direction.  YAY for the rabbit's escape!

Wishing you all a Spring-like day wherever you are.  Do let me know what signs of Spring you see.

  1. We're getting a run of warm temperatures (low 60s), but no sign of crocuses or other spring plants yet. I did see that the red buds on the maple trees are starting to look swollen. Oh, and a lone goldfinch at my bird feeder yesterday, but no bright plumage yet.

  2. If you feel like knitting, then that's what you should do!
We still have a lot of snow on the ground -- but not for long. It his 50 yesterday, and is supposed to do so again today.

  3. That's the beauty of having several projects in progress; you can work on whatever you feel like! I have plans to take a walk today and hang laundry out today. We still have a lot of snow but maybe I can spy some snowdrops.

  4. I know we'll see snow again before it's all over (hopefully not much), but the temp registered 60F yesterday (I had lunch al fresco again) and we're set for the same today.

  5. That's the joy of crafting. YOU can do exactly what you feel like doing with no one to tell you otherwise. Well, unless you have a dealine like Christmas or birthdays to push you on! :-)
We're barely getting into the mid 40's this week after the 50's & 60's last week. That's disappointing, but I guess to be expected with spring. I do hope you're able to get out and enjoy it.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. It was so nice not to wake up to below freezing temperatures this morning. I felt more like knitting than stitching this week also. I think for me it was a push to get those winter projects over with because I like to stitch more in the summer when it's too hot for wool.

  7. According to the forecast this morning two back to back storms are going to hit in the next week, so the warm spring-like days will disappear and be replaced with a typical March snowstorm. Seeing all the red wing blackbirds in your yard would be a treasure.I love their lilting song. I hope you can squeeze in your Nordic walk. Many people around here use walking poles.

  8. I haven't spotted any blooming crocus yet, but the snowdrops have been up for a while, and tulip and daffodil leaves are getting bigger! The birds are also much noisier in the morning. I just love all these signs of spring!

  9. Hello,
Today the weather is beautiful, hubby and I took a walk. I am not seeing any flowers here, our may not appear until later in April. Your crocus are pretty. I did see a Red-winged Blackbird in my yard a few weeks ago. Take care, enjoy your day!

  12. Lovely crocuses. I'm hoping to see more of them this year. I got smart and finally planted some bulbs where they actually get some sun!

  13. I'm so glad to see you're warming up and getting flowers to bloom! I'm glad the fox didn't get the bunny! I've got a bouquet of daffodils next to me so things are going well in that department here. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  14. Your stitching is really good! Red wing blackbirds are lovely and smart. Signs of Spring: we burnt the tall grasses down and covered the ash with the leftover snow.....We saw some green coming up that will be day lilies. Other signs: the golf course is nearly cleared of snow. A "seasonal hamburger/ice cream store has opened" , and flipped the down comforter off me twice this week.
