Monday Fog

 Good Morning!

The "fog" in the title refers to my brain, not the weather.  I'm having a case of the Monday fogginess for sure.  Could be because I heard Tyg on the roof at 2 a.m.!  Went down, opened the patio door and he scrambled down off the roof and into the house.  Then at 6 he came upstairs meowing because he was ready to go back out.  So, I slept ok, but it was interrupted.  Better than no sleep however.

How was your weekend?  It was a pretty one here.  Fletch worked on outside projects - mainly pruning our apple tree.  Portions of it died over the last couple of years, so I'm curious to see how it leafs out this Spring.

The call that our taxes were ready didn't come until late in the day on Friday, so Saturday I drove up to the office in Souderton to pick them up...and pay our bill.  It was a brilliantly sunny afternoon and just perfect for a drive through some lovely countryside.  I guess a number of people had the same idea about a drive that afternoon as traffic was a bit on the heavy side.  But, mission accomplished.

Sunday dawned even warmer and nicer.  I got some laundry done (and was able to hang it out on the line to dry!!) and Fletch and I did a quick grocery shopping in the morning.  After lunch, without giving myself a chance to feel drowsy, I headed over to the trail alongside the canal.  I was lucky to get a parking space - very crowded, but everyone kept their distance and I had a nice 3+ mile walk.  The ice was gone from the canal and both mud and ice were gone from the trail.  No sign of a blue heron, but I did see a number of turtles basking in the sun.

Love the reflection of the blue sky in the canal.

Today I'm hoping for a quiet morning.  My 10 a.m. conference call has been cancelled.  I want to wash sheets and hang them on the line to dry and I'd like to go for a walk this morning rather than waiting until after lunch.  I'm planning to head over to the River Trail in Valley Forge Park which I have not walked since last Fall!

Tomorrow I'll be heading to the office.  We are having a "virtual lunch" from 11:30 - 1:00 and I figured I'd just do that from the office.  I have a bunch of things to print and some other things to take care of.  Everyone received a box at home that included gift cards plus an extra gift card from Wawa for lunch and a golden egg with a raffle ticket inside.  I almost never go to Wawa, so will most likely give that card to Colin & Mailing.  So, pretty much it will be like our lunches pre-Covid times, except it will be virtual and you will provide your own lunch.  It will be fun to see how they pull off the raffle for prizes.  As usual, extremely generous even in weird times!

Hope you are having glorious Spring weather where you are - enjoy!!

  4. Ugh, broken sleep--it's like starting all over again at zero each time it happens.

Your company is a dream. So generous and employee-friendly. I'll bet they keep their people a long time.

  5. I think you need to look into a cat door!!! It sure eliminates the middle of the night doorkeeper jobs! (We've had one for years and years and never had an unwanted wild critter use the door. It's nice to see the turtles lined up on the log!

  6. Look at all those turtles! Ginny picked every crocus blossom that she found and gave them to me yesterday... and I noticed snowdrops just beginning to emerge. It was a wonderfully spring-like weekend!!

  7. Love the turtles!
It sounded quite busy around our house. We are in a small, fairly quiet survey, but we are surrounded by main roads - when they get busy you really hear the traffic - and it was quite noisy this weekend! The fire station up the street was busy too!

  9. Tyg has trained you well, but he needs a strict talking to! I’m curious. Was the turtle log placed there or a happy coincidence? Either way, they sure love it.

  10. It sounds like you work for a lovely company that values it's employees.
Oh Tyg, Tyg, Tyg. Don't you know that Mom has to sleep? Cat's really don't care do they? They know we're their servants. :-)
We had a cool weekend and it started raining yesterday afternoon. It's still coming down but I'm thankful that it's mostly been rain with just a few snow showers mixed in and none of that is left on the ground. I do love the sound of the rain on the roof, but wouldn't you know that today was the day I was going to start walking a set distance every day? I have got to get rid of a LOT of weight gained over this past year.
Enjoy your day and thank you for that cute turtle photo. They look so happy and lazy.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. It sounds like a great weekend for you. I think your company sounds so supportive of it's work family, you're very lucky as so many only care about their bottom line and not the workers. I love your turtles. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. It was still pretty cold here over the weekend. It just started to warm up this afternoon. That darn wind has been a real nuisance. I can't even open the windows without freezing.

  16. Goodness, I know you love that cat, but he sure causes you a lot of grief and interrupted sleep! It was a beautiful weekend here as well and I made sure to soak up as much vitamin D as I could.

Hope your work lunch was enjoyable!

  17. I hope your "fog" cleared, Vera! I'm so glad your annual work lunch could carry on, despite the (never-ending) pandemic. I'm always amazed at the creative ways people have used virtual events to keep "community life" going! XO
