March Winds

 Good Morning!

It appears as though March will be going out like a Lion...at least in Southeastern PA.  I was woken in the night by the wind howling and windows rattling!  My goodness what a racket.  Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous day and I even got some more archery in during the afternoon.  We also had a fire in the pit Saturday night - delightful sitting out.  But Sunday we woke to rain and then the winds picked up.  We'll be lucky if our daffodils survive the wind!

How was your weekend?  Ours was nice.  We wrapped up feeding Colin & Mailing's cats on Saturday night.  I think we should have gone over Sunday morning too, but Colin said no need...however, they did not get home from DC until late afternoon...I'm sure those cats were starving!

Over the weekend I managed to get some knitting accomplished and the Northern Lights socks are finished!

I do love the way they turned out.  The yarn is Stroll from KnitPicks and the colorway is Northern Lights.  The pattern is Twinkleberry (a free pattern that is no longer available).  I used Size 1 needle.  These are for a friend in Rhode Island, so into the gift bag/box they will go and one Christmas gift is finished!  I've picked out yarn for the next pair of socks which will be for Colin, but I have not yet caked it up.  Maybe by Unraveled Wednesday.

Nothing much on the agenda today.  Work is quiet so far which is just how I like it!  I doubt that I will walk given the wind, but I will do an inside work out.  Bathrooms need to be cleaned and there is laundry to do.  Even with that, there should be plenty of time for knitting, stitching, reading, whatever.  Should be a nice day.  Hope yours is off to a good start!

  1. our power went out for a few minutes but golly I'm tired of the winds and the unpredictability of the electric company!! Beautiful socks!

  2. We lost power for a little while yesterday evening in the storm, and then had an adventure with Comcast of course. But it's bright and sunny this morning, even if a tad windy. I love those socks; they are a great yarn and pattern match!

  3. Lots of wind here in NEO as well. I am mightily sick of it. We lost power at the lakehouse, but not for very long, just 6 hours.

The socks finished beautifully. They will be a welcome gift.

  6. We had to sleep in the basement last night from the winds and I am very cranky today. We didn't really get any sleep. I told The Mister this morning we are getting too old for this house in the woods.
The socks look great. I love that colorway.

  7. Fantastic socks.
We had some good wind last night too (it rained most of the day and when it stopped the wind kicked up). It's calm and cool now, but its suppose to warm up with crazy wind tomorrow... then back too cool and rain on Wednesday. I think Mother Nature is confused.

  8. ❤️ the socks!

High wind warning was issued yesterday and all day today. High profile vehicles are not permitted on the interstate because of a blow-over risk. Yes, March is going out like a lion.

  9. It's chilly here today, but I'm happy to see the sun out again after all the gloom yesterday. I am waiting to take my walk until a little later in the day, though, in the hopes that it'll be a bit warmer!

Love the socks. Your friend is lucky to be getting such a beautiful gift!

  10. I think Nancy is getting the winds we had last night. We had 70 mph gusts and sustained winds at 50-55! The RV did great but we did feel a few of those gusts. A bit scary. Lucky we don't have any HUGE trees around us because lots came down around town. I got a message that since power was out everywhere, if the vaccine clinic lost power my appt. would be canceled. Luckily hte clinic was fine and I am now fully vaccinated as of 1 hour ago. Yippee!
I'm glad you had a good weekend. You made good use of it finishing up those gorgeous socks. Love them.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  11. The wind here has been just crazy! (and worrisome... things are blowing over, blowing off, and blowing down!) I am ready to have these windy days be done!

  12. Great finish on the socks--I really like the way the yarn shifted at the different parts of the foot!

  13. Good job on the sock finish! Sounds like a good weekend for you. We also had a good one.. I blogged about it today. The boys went home this afternoon so it's quiet once again. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  14. Oh I just love your socks. A campfire sounds just wonderful, but we are dry and there is a ton of wind. So not right now. Again, those socks are amazing. We are trying to find a cat sitter. Im running into road blocks. It was so nice when we traded with sitting, but then our friends moved away .....and there went that great arrangement.

  15. It's been really windy here, too! My mom always used to tell me it was just spring . . . blowing in with a GUST-o. :-) Your socks are just lovely -- they do look like Northern Lights! Enjoy the day, Vera.

  16. We have had plenty of wind here too. I love the socks in that yarn. I think Stroll is a nice yarn. I have used it for socks and baby sweaters.
