Good Morning!
Yes, this is a gift of a day...my office is closed due to the weather! Not much snow out there, but it is still falling and terribly windy outside. I'm thankful to not have to go out (though we do need milk...so maybe later I will venture out or send Fletch out).
Last night was another night where I had trouble sleeping. I don't know if I was wound up after watching an episode of Shetland, or wound up due to the possibility of weather, but for whatever reason I woke up around 1:30 or so. Got up and looked out the back window and couldn't see anything falling from the heavens. Got up again at 2:15 a.m. and could see that a new dusting of snow was on the patio roof. Then I saw a blur across the back yard. It was Tyg! He had not come in before Fletch went to bed (much later than moi), but was making a beeline for our patio. I ran downstairs and let the poor kitty in. And then I could see the snow coming down. Tiny flakes blowing all over the place.
As cold as it is, it is quite a bit warmer than the past few days. The temp this a.m. at 5:30 was 22...every other morning it has been in the single digits or low teens. Still, not a good day to go out for a walk.
There was success last night with the sock repair!
It is not beautiful or perfect, but I think it blends in well and it is not very lumpy (LOL), so I think it will be comfortable to wear. So today I can concentrate on finishing my 2nd fingerless mitt and starting Colin's socks. I may take a nap (ha! - not a surprise after my sleepless night) and I may read some (started The Roanoke Girls which I got on Overdrive). So far I'm enjoying it. And, I have laundry to do and bills to pay. It's a good thing I don't have to go to work today!
Wishing you all warmth and beauty on this chilly Thursday in January.
Great job on the repair! Enjoy the snow day!
ReplyDeleteHooray, the socks look great!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day. It's really treacherous out there - my 20-minute walk to work took me over an hour! It was painful and dangerous, and if I had been able to stay home, I definitely would have. I am already dreading trying to make my way back home later.
Poor Tyg! I hope he has warmed himself up appropriately - ours have been hunkered down anywhere near a heat source.
Kudos on the sock repair!
ReplyDeleteI loved watching the episodes of Shetland. I wish there were more. Have you watched Broadchurch?
Nice repair. Having that kind of colorway helps immensely. I ventured out yesterday INTO THE ARCTIC TUNDRA! and have to do it again today. Groceries. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI am OVER IT.
Enjoy your snow day!!!
ReplyDeleteIt started snowing here around 1 AM. But, at first it wasn't accumulating . . . just kind of blowing around. Now we probably have about 3".
Congrats on Mailing's sock repair.
Glad your snug at home. I went in although train was almost empty. Still 2:00PM dismissal Yippee! Sock repair looks good.
ReplyDeleteWe've got some beautiful sun today, but its crazy cold! I expect we'll see some fallout from your storm in a day or two.
ReplyDeleteOH TYG!!! Thank goodness you were up last night! I think you KNEW
ReplyDeleteYour sleepless night was planned so the kitty could get in! Glad you had the day off to rest up and get a little knitting done! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteCheers~
Thank goodness you were up and saw him!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and ESPECIALLY for picking #4 because that's what I really want to do!

Hope your day was great! Our youngest grandson turned 6 today; where did those six years go so fast? Thanks, Vera, for visiting my blog! A Happy New Year to you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you saw Tyg - I'm thinking it was meant to be that you weren't asleep ... and sure hope you got a nap (as well as knitting and reading)!
ReplyDeletelooks pretty good! I had to fix my son in law's cowl (a HOLE!!) and I was pleased at how it looked. I'm clever sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteHope there wasn't too much snow. We are chilly here, finally warming up a bit tomorrow. Stay warm and dry!
