Friday and a Finish!

 Hello and Good Morning!

It's another mild one out there.  This whole week has felt not like October at all.  But...I think more seasonable temps will come our way on Sunday.

This is a busy morning for me - conference calls at 8:30, 10:00 and 11:00.  It's like this every other Friday and I don't like it!  LOL  Fletch will be on cat feeding duty this a.m. since I'll be tied up with the phone glued to my ear.  And the kids will be home sometime this afternoon!  And thus will end the cat feeding for now.

The party rental folks were at C&M's house when I got there yesterday afternoon.  It didn't take too long for them to load up their truck.  Nice to have the garage cleared out for the kids.  Work was a little busy yesterday (and already this morning!!), but I can feel the madness easing up somewhat and I think by next week things will be much calmer (fingers crossed).

The nice news though is that the Lava Socks are finished!!

And a close up (a bit blurry) of the lace pattern.

The close up also shows the very subtle variation in color in the yarn.  I love it.  Thanks Val for such a great pattern!

We have no real plans for the weekend which is perfect.  We need to pick up just a few items from the grocery store and (of course) there is a bunch of laundry to get done...bathrooms to clean...kitchen floor to clean...etc.  Hopefully some quiet moments for knitting and stitching.  How about you?  Any plans for the weekend?

  1. No plans yet--just the way I like it!

The socks look great. I really like that lace panel.

We were in the mid 70s yesterday, and it felt like spring all over again. So odd. We get one more day of it, and then we're hitting the bottom, struggling to reach even 50. But the colour here in NEO is breathtaking.

  4. Those socks are really lovely and you chose the perfect yarn. I'm not sure I could give those away! My weekend chores look pretty much the same as yours, and I hope we can both get them done quickly and enjoy some free time.

  6. I try to schedule my Fridays to be light, but it never works. There are always students who need more help with homework during virtual instruction!
It's cold and rainy here so I'm hoping to Zoom with friends and family -- and then do creative stuff!

  7. I love the yarn you chose, but I think I'd call yours "Shoals" instead of lava! Beautiful either way!

I try to get all my work done for the week by EOD Thursday, so I can do nothing but keep half an eye on my email on Fridays. It works most weeks, but not this week. Oh well. I have a couple of hours worth to do, then I can kick back! Not too bad!

  8. Hello, Vera

I like the socks, the color and pattern are pretty. It can be nice not to have any plans, the weather has been nice for outdoor activities. Take care, wishing you a happy day!

  9. No plans except to shovel and try to keep warm. This is our first test of the RV in the snow. 6-8 inches predicted for today and it's really coming down out there.
I'm glad the party people finally showed up. It's nice for the kids to be able to come home and not have to deal with that kind of thing right away. I hope their honeymoon has been a wonderful, memory making one.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. Woo hoo for the finish! They are so pretty. I've made that pattern too and I love it.
No plans here but the same old, same old. At least my new washer and dryer will be here. Hallelujah. My hands are worn out.

  14. Bravo on the sock finish.. they are lovely. I bet you're excited to see the Mrs. & Mr!! Lots of tales to hear from them. We are just enjoying having the door open and watching the waves roll in and listening to the sound of them crashing ashore. Dayle is making chicken alfredo for our dinner! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  16. I am catching up this morning on my blog reading -- I guess yesterday was busier than I anticipated! I expect that by now the cooler temps have reached you and you're glad to have some new knit socks to wear. I am currently wearing hand-knit socks and a sweater and sitting next to a warm radiator, which is very nice. I enjoyed the few days of more summery weather we had, but I'm just as happy for sweater weather!

  17. What a great yarn/pattern match for those socks! I am a stockinette sock knitter, but when I see pretty FOs like that ... I always pause!
