Unraveled Wednesday 10/14/20

 Good Morning!

This morning I turned the heat on in my office!!  Wonderful.  It's already turned off, but I was thrilled to be able to take the chill out of the room.  Especially since I have to spend so much time here these days.  And, speaking of days how is it already the middle of October?

Last night Fletch and I went over to Colin & Mailing's to feed the cats.  I also sliced, wrapped and froze what was left of the wedding cake (and left a zip lock bag of cookies in their frig).  The tent is gone from the backyard, but those party rental fools never called me so all the tables, chairs, plates, flatware, speakers, etc. are still sitting in the garage.  Those people are so disorganized!!  Not my problem, but they better not try to charge extra...

Anyway, here we are in mid-October and it's Unraveled Wednesday where we meet up with Kat and friends to talk about what we are making and reading.  I was able to make some progress on the second Lava Sock.  I'm almost halfway through the foot, so the end is in sight!

On the reading front, I am still trying to get through The Door which is a strange one for sure.  Fletch and I have just started These is My Words and it is ok (a bit gruesome in places - Indian scalpings, etc.).

The next few weeks will be slow for me on the knitting, stitching and reading fronts.  Hopefully I can carve out a little time for those pleasures!  Be sure to head over to Kat's to see what others are making and reading.

  1. I've been opening my bedroom window a bit at night and turning the heat on a bit each morning. I need a cold room to sleep, but hate being cold in my own house to function. Heat that office!

I wish Fall would slow down! Like you, I'm surprised at how fast October is moving. Maybe all the knitters should slow down--is it their fault? LOL

  2. We had several days where it got warmer again (to the point where we had to open our bedroom windows to be comfortable at night), but it's now proper early autumn weather again and I am delighted. I love needing just a bit of heat to take the edge off in the morning! And our HVAC guys are coming today for the annual furnace check -- right on time! I hope the rest of that sock goes quickly, because I'm sure you'll be able to use a new pair of socks soon.

  3. Taking the chill off, with heat or a pair of handknit socks, is one of fall's pleasures, and your socks are looking lovely! The Door is definitely different, but I still find myself thinking about it occasionally. Hope the party rental fools get their act together!

  4. I turned my heat on last week to chase the chill away, but it’s off again. I did put flannel sheets on the bed - so cozy. Obviously the rental place is not in need of the tables, chairs, etc. I’m sure you’ll get a frantic call when they do.

  5. Hello,
It is nice to see the sun today, maybe even a warmer afternoon.
I am amazed at how fast the days and months are flying by, way too fast. The sock is looking beautiful. Take care, have a happy day!

  6. Our flannel sheets are on the bed and although we keep it at 60 inside at night, the heat has still been coming on. It's supposed to be 27F tonight! I have the little space heater on next to me right now and I'm covered with a crocheted blanket as I read blogs so I'm comfy and cozy.
I'm guessing the rental place doesn't have many parties to cater to right now so they're in no hurry. Still, it's not very good for them not to keep the appointments they make.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. Frozen wedding cake is the best. I remember doing that with Daughter's and we ate bits of it all winter. She had the top for her anniversary the next year.

  17. Sounds like you're having the right kind of weather for those comfy socks! It's a bit chilly here too, but Maryland tends to fluctuate from warm to cool this time of year.
