Tomfoolery!

Happy Friday!

I've almost made it through another work week.  This morning will be rough - 3 conference calls (and I get so bored...but I have to pay attention...and I have to take notes...so no knitting or crocheting or stitching...).  However, I will call it a day by lunch time.

Despite the forecast for rain yesterday, the afternoon brought some blue skies and sunshine.  Not sure that will happen today, but time will tell.  I never got to walk yesterday.  Fletch and I had some running around to do in between my work stuff and before we knew it the day was consumed.

Last night I finally picked out yarn for my next pair of socks and (successfully!!) wound it up:

Isn't that pretty?  The colorway is "Tomfoolery" and it is Shepherd Sock yarn from Lorna's Laces:  80% superwash and 20% nylon.

After caking it up I went through my printed sock patterns but have not yet decided what I will knit.  I'll take a little time this morning to look in my Ravelry library, but even if I don't make up my mind at least I can cast on and do a ribbed cuff.  Maybe once I see how the yarn knits up a pattern idea will come to mind.  I do like how bright and cheerful the yarn is.

No special plans this weekend.  Colin & Mailing have cancelled their Solstice Party plans due to the yucky weather forecast.  Groceries need to be procured and we may make a trip to Costco (haven't been there since February I think!).  I'm kind of looking forward to a lazy weekend - time to read or knit or crochet or stitch or nap or whatever suits my fancy!  Wishing you all the kind of weekend you would like!

  1. I got a big "wut?" moment when you mentioned the solstice. I had to stop and really think about it. I really have lost touch with all time. Golly.

  2. I was a bit fearful to go to Costco, but I finally went about a month ago, and wished I had gone sooner! They had things running like clockwork - a guy wiping down carts, procedures for lining up for checkout, and even a "traffic director" to reinforce social distancing. I wish I could everything there! Happy lazy weekend!

  4. That's a very HAPPY yarn.

Check out Sunday Swing (Knitty) or Business Casual (Ravelry). I think they might work nicely.

  5. What a bright and festive yarn to work with. Any plain sock pattern will liven up instantly with it.

I'm feeling like a lazy weekend, too. It'll be too hot to do much, anyway.

  6. zoom meetings can suck the life out of everyone. My husband is constantly in them! Seems like there are more zoom meetings than when there were 'in real life' meetings. love the name of the sock yarn!!

  8. Hello,

The yarn is pretty, I like the mix of colors. The weather is nice here but rain is on the radar. Enjoy your day. Happy Father's Day weekend.

  9. Around my house, "tomfoolery" is a part of our everyday lexicon! ;-) (That's what happens . . . when you're married to a Tom . . . and he's tends toward the "foolery".) I love the colors and think they will be so happy to knit up. And here's to a lazy weekend. They're always best in my book! XO

  10. enjoying some catchup time with Feedly today - and seeing all the crafting and outdoors stuff you've been up to. I'm in love with all the granny squares (thought they were a little bigger, so seeing that you need 75 MORE, whoa!) ... hope the weather turns out better than the forecast. Happy Weekend!

  11. I saw the mesh bags with handle for yarn and almost bought one. Not that I could use it, but it's so cute!! Maybe I could keep a ball of jute in it. Tomfoolery socks will be wild and named appropriately.

  12. That is cheerful yarn. Looks like it would be good for a simpler pattern, as anything too complex might lost in all that color.
Rain is in the forecast here, too. At least my garden will get a good watering.

  13. Oh Thank you for reminding me of the solstice ! I love summer solstice. Colin was wise to cancel. We have a big boat parade in town that happens annually . I don't know WHY they are doing it this year. No one (but me) is wearing masks, it seems. The boats are all fire safety boats and the parade is a good thing, but not this year. Not with the impending crowds. and Covid. I love to do a sock cuff and THEN make a pattern decision.

  14. I like the Tomfoolery colors - so bright and just right for summer. I think casting on and knitting a cuff is great way to see how the colors play out in the yarn. I'm sorry the party is cancelled but probably for the best. Enjoy your weekend.

  19. I'm so far behind on commenting on blogs that I may just give up and start again with today's posts. We went camping up on Mt. Spokane and there was n o cell service or internet. It was a kind of nice break.
I hope that your weekend is a nice relaxing one like you hoped. I went to Costco on Thursday for just the second time since February. I did manage to get toilet paper, paper towels and ureka! Clorox wipes. They have been impossible to find.
I really like your new yarn. I'm casting on a pair for Dennis today using Petty Harbour pattern.
    Take care and happy Sunday!
    Blessings,
    Betsy
