TNT June 16, 2020

Hello All!

Welcome to Tiny Needle Tuesday where it appears that I have jumped back into stitching with both feet!  I've made quite a bit of progress on Hallow Eden by Plum Street Samplers.  I am waiting (not so patiently) for the thread that I've ordered:  Hickory Sticks by Crescent Colours.  It's the shade used for the alphabet, Adam & Eve's hair (I managed to get half of Eve's hair stitched last night before running out).  I ordered the thread ($2.50 for the skein of thread and $4 shipping!!) last week, so hopefully it will come soon.  The trunk of the tree has some of that color in it and there are still a couple of letters (in addition to the rest of Eve's hair).  But here it tis:

I just love this.  The snake cracks me up (Fletch thinks it looks like a giant fish hook).  The quirkiness of samplers is what I love about them.

Yesterday morning was busy at work, but I managed to get out around Noon.  Stopped at Trader Joe's on my way home and gosh!  That store still has lines to get inside.  I just needed 3 things, so it was a very quick trip and (for once) I did not get distracted and buy 20 things that were not on my list - lol.

I'm home today and am hoping for a quiet day.  I didn't sleep well last night, so there is most likely a nap in my future.  The temps are still mild (53 this morning), but each day is getting a bit warmer.  If it doesn't get too warm, perhaps I'll even take a walk.  I've missed my trails and it would be good to get outside a bit.

It's 6 a.m. in Eastern PA and I can hear a rooster crowing up the street.  Hope everyone's Tuesday goes well - enjoy!

  1. I love that snake, and he'll look even better when you stitch Eve so he's got somebody to tempt! I did not sleep well either, so I'm already looking forward to a nap (or a very early bedtime). Hope you get a quiet day and some rest!

  4. I much prefer your stitched snake to the ugly black watersnake I surprised along our shoreline on Sunday. I almost threw up.

I do like that sampler and its little witty tableau. You do a lovely job.

  5. That's a lot of progress and it's looking great!! I almost stepped on a snake the other day in the yard and I see by the comments that many of us have had a too close encounter recently. I wonder what's up with that?

  7. Hello,
Your sampler is looking cute, I like the snake. That is a lot of money for just shopping the thread. I have not been to Trader Joe's since March. Wegman's is bad too, too many shopping carts inside. Have a great day!

  9. The sampler looks great. I have the Sheep Virtues that Debbie made started but have run out of thread. I'm not willing to spend the exhorbitant shipping so I think I'll try to get to Hobby Lobby soon to buy what I need to finish it. I miss stitching but don't want to start another project until this one is done.
It's STILL raining here at the lake. Four days worth of rain so far. Tomorrow is supposed to be partly cloudy and all the way to 60 but that's what was promised for today so I'm not holding my breath. :-). I've been keeping busy. I baked chocolate chip cookies using the convection microwave for the first time for baking. They turned out well. I'm also on my third load of laundry so I'm having fun playing homemaker here in my trailer today and staying dry.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. I like the quirkiness of lots of antique stitching projects; we've lost our sense of humor, I think! Nice work sticking with this project!
