Happy May

Hello All!

Happy May Day!  I guess there will be no dancing around the Maypole today, but I am optimistic that May will be so much better than April...or March.  As Dee mentions, it is time for a NEW BEGINNING.

Yesterday I managed to finish the first of my SIL's socks and start #2.

Though the pink and green are not quite what I had envisioned initially, I like the way they worked out.  The speckle yarn is from Spun Right Round - an 80/20 blend in the colorway "Rumble in Brighton."  The pink is Madeline Tosh Merino Light (100% superwash) in the colorway "Coquette."   The green is leftover from my Miss Lime socks.  It is House Cat from Wandering Cat (100% superwash) in the colorway "Leaf Bug."

It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but the leg is fairly long:  15 rows of ribbing at the cuff and then 100 rows of knitting before the heel flap.  I don't think they will quite be knee socks, but longer than usual.  So far I have 10 rows of ribbing complete on #2 and hopefully will get more done on that today.

Not sure I will get out today - a bit of a chance for thunderstorms this morning and showers this afternoon.  But the weekend looks good.  Not sunny, but warm (low 70's!!) and zero chance of rain both days.  Woo-Hoo.  Maybe I can find another Heron's nest?  And, it seems like our wind has finally abated.

Fletch is running to the store today.  We need limes (Mexican food tonight) and a few other things that I forgot when I went out Monday night.  Hopefully it will go smoothly for him.  I have a conference call at 10 and then will do my workout.  I'm hoping for a non-work afternoon, but we will see (things seem to pick up every afternoon around 4 which is weird, but it is Friday, so I hope it is calm).  I'd like to knit and maybe make another Granny Square!

Happy Weekend and Happy May - enjoy!

  4. I think the sox look great! Even if they aren't exactly what you had in your mind, they are certainly a nice variation on the theme.

Despite so many concerns and restrictions, April seemed a bit speedy of a month. I'm holding out hope for May--fingers crossed that we see the end of this illness, the tail of this curve.

  9. Happy socks! I love how the colors work together. We have a gorgeous day today and plan to go to the lake later but I went to bed with a migraine and have woken up shakey. Thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow which is unusual for here. When we first moved here, it was almost 6 years before we heard thunder! Very different from Nebraska!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. Mmmmmmm....Mexican food! I've got an order in for some salsa and chips but cheese has been hard to come by. I would murder for some Chinese takeout. I found the menu we keep by the phone yesterday and I wanted to cry.

  13. I am so glad someone else forgets things at the store. I try so hard to make a comprehensive list and then get home and think of things I forgot. The sock looks great. I am gearing up to plant my little garden soon. Tomorrow's big event is turning compost and hoping for black gold at the bottom.

  16. I was in a Maypole dance when I was in Fifth grade, I had to skip into the dance with the grossest boy in my class holding hands. We also had to sit together in a model T during a parade. I was so mortified! Stay well and safe.
