Baby Hawk Ready to Fly!!

Hello All,

Dropping in quickly for a short post.  I took this picture yesterday.

Look at that!!  These baby hawks are ready to fly the coop.  Actually I was surprised to see them still in the nest this a.m.  Both have been standing on the edge and opening out their wings.  It won't be long now!

I've been surprised at how quickly my days are going back in the office.  I'm not staying ALL day - I get in before 7:30 and have been leaving by 3 or 3:30, but the time is jam-packed.  And today there are a few more folks in the office.  Still a pretty empty place though (which is fine with me).  One of my peers is in and she told me she has decided to retire at the end of September!  She is 75 (please God, do not let me still be working at 75!!) and figures it's time.  I'll say!  So it will be interesting to see what new configuration there is for supporting the folks she currently supports.

My hope is that tomorrow I can/will work from home.  I have one conference call at 10 and believe that's the only thing on my schedule.  Other than knitting that is....

Hope everyone's week is going well.  I've got to run!

  2. Hello, Love the hawk photo, it looks ready to fly. Retiring was the best decision I ever made. I hope your co-worker enjoys her retirement, 75 yrs old she deserves it. Wishing you a happy day!

  3. I think you're right and I'm guessing next time you go to the office the babies will have flown the nest.
Our camping friends Larry and Nita both just retired last year and they were 75 then. I sure hope Dennis isn't still working then!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  9. Wow..that baby is ready to take off! Our Osprey babies take forever to leave the nest. They are just poking their little heads out now.

  10. My brother was fishing yesterday and a large fish fell out of the sky and landed next to him! He looked up and saw an osprey and an eagle. Somebody made somebody else drop their catch! Good thing it didn't land on his head.

  13. Oh, thanks for that photo. It's astonishing how fast raptors grow. And how sturdy their leg feathers make them look.

Still working at 75...wow. I hope it's because she really liked to, not because she had to. I loved being able to retire when I did.

I love it every single day!
