Back on Line

Good Morning All!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe at home.  My new laptop did arrive yesterday morning and I was able to connect to our internet at home, but was unable to get into Outlook to access work e-mail and I was unable to access any of my files that had been transferred to the laptop.  Long story, but I ended up driving into the office yesterday afternoon and was able to connect there.  First time logging onto a new device they had to verify it was moi and the way they do that is to call my phone - that is my office phone.  Geeze.  Anyway, I did not stick around (there were 3 other people in the office) and everything is working fine now at home.

How are you all doing?  I find myself so distracted and scattered and (of course) not sleeping well which doesn't help things.  Weird how I crave days stuck at home - when it is my own choice.  Being told I have to stay at home is another story.  Especially with no end in sight.  I'm trying to stay busy with knitting and cooking and reading, but again I am tending to wander.

There was a finish yesterday though!  Miss Lime #2 was completed.

Here is a close up of one of them stretched on a sock blocker so you can see the pretty pattern.

These were fun to knit, but I'm glad to have them finished!

This morning I knit some on the Plaid Blanket sock (#1) and am now up to the toe decrease.  I'll finish that today and get the second one on the needles.  I also knit several rows on the Canary Blanket yesterday afternoon before deciding to run into the office.

Fletch always has so many projects that he wants to do that he is managing to stay occupied.  We've had one of those plastic owls on a pole in our garden for years.  You know - the kind that is supposed to keep other birds and critters away from your produce.  When the large tree came down in our woods several months ago, Fletch discovered one limb that was covered with woodpecker holes.  He decided to use that as a mount for the owl.  He was able to get that set up the other day.

Now we are ready!  Sugar snap peas have been planted and we (the collective we which means Fletch) have tomato seedlings in yogurt cups on the kitchen windowsill.  They need to be transplanted to bigger containers soon.

Chrome for me is suddenly all in Spanish!  I had to switch to Internet Explorer to write this post!  I had noticed it was switching to Spanish on my phone sometimes.  Just one more weird thing.

Well, time for me to get to work.  I have some financial reports to run and data to get out to my bosses.  Hopefully that will be a good distraction for me.

I will try to catch up on your blog posts later today.  Meanwhile, sending calm and peaceful wishes to you all.  Stay safe!

  1. I'm glad you could get set up with not too any technology issues. The random switch to Spanish must keep things exciting! Even more exciting is your sock finish. They are beautiful! I think we're all distracted, unfocused, and tending to wander, but thankfully we've got blogs for some connection!

  3. Hello, the socks look wonderful. It is hard to stay indoors, I am glad to live near the fire roads for walking. No one is around. Take care and stay well. Have a great day!

  4. Sox look terrific.

What a great mount for your scarecrow owl. Does it really work?

Despite today being the first day of Spring, we're still a ways behind you here in NEO. My tulips and daffodils are just about four inches above the ground right now.

Glad you're home and staying safe.

  5. Welcome back, Vera! So glad you're up and running again! (Maybe it's time to practice your Spanish????) I, too, have been very scattered and preoccupied. I think we're all kind of in shock. A lot has happened in a very short time -- and it's unnerving to have no idea what's coming next. Be gentle with yourself! XO

  6. Hola, mi amiga! Como esta usted?

Nah ...................it's just regular ol' American me.

Glad you were able to get the computer to work, but I sure do miss getting together. :-( Miss Lime looks great by the way.

  7. Great socks! Happy to hear you are now able to work remotely and can hopefully stay out of the virus’ reach. I’ve been sewing, organizing fabric and scraps, as well as knitting a tiny bit. The image of plants growing on the windowsill gives me optimism that Spring will bring an end to the virus - well one can hope. . .

  8. My Chromebook died right before all this nightmare happened and thankfully I had ordered another one a while ago and it's just been sitting her in box. Of course, my old one started working again so now I have two on the go which is two too many. All the news is scaring me to death. I need a chill pill. I can't enjoy anything right now so crafting is out. It just doesn't feel right. Cooking was keeping me sane but I am running out of basics so now I have to ration. I need to go watch some WW2 movies. If the folks in London could make it thought the blitz, I should be able to survive not having enough kitty litter..lol. First world problems, I know. I think we are all having a wake up call about what is actually important and what isn't.
    Stay well.

  9. Lovely sock. And the owl looks fabulous on the woodpecker pole.

Working from home takes some getting used to, but you'll get into a rhythm.

  10. It is challenging, we are lucky we are having good weather and we have lots to do. I agree that the news is horrifying and I really have to wean myself from it.

  11. It's good to see you back Vera. I'm SO glad you're able to work from home right not. Dennis is still going into his office every day and it does worry me. I am limiting myself to an hour in the morning and at night to catch up on news. Otherwise I find myself completely overwhelmed by it all. Social media is a great help to keep in touch with others. Our stores are completely empty so I'm glad we're covered with the basics for awhile at least.
That sock is divine. I love the pretty pattern and on the blocker it opens up beautifully.
Enjoy your time at home. I know it's hard, but we CAN do this. What is the option?
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  12. I'm glad for you that you can work from home and not lose your job like so many. I really like your new owl perch, very natural looking and clever. We have a fake blue heron by our pond to discourage real ones from eating all of our koi. Which didn't work as we saw a heron there a few times this autumn and now all of our smaller koi are gone and only the big one is left.. all on his lonesome. Take care. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. yay for working from home! those Miss Lime socks are so pretty and I love the new owl perch. Marc has been busy outside, too - pruning, pressure-washing and generally tidying up. It was warm and sunny today and I think being outside did him a lot of good.

  15. I am very distracted. Today I am trying my best not to check the news every time I blink. It's a hard habit to break. Glad you are with us once again!!
