Another Manic Monday

Hello All,

Yup, another Manic Monday (ear worm) or in my case, really a Blurry Monday.  There was a lack of sleep last night.  I woke up at 1:30 a.m. with an upset stomach (which is fine now) and then the phone rang at 2:30 a.m.!  What???  I did not answer it, but you know that feeling when the phone rings in the middle of the night (yes, we do still have a land line).  Plus I was too warm (the flannel sheets are coming off the bed today!) and Tyg who almost never gets on the bed (unless no one is in it), was snug up against me.  So major lack of sleep.

Luckily, I have an eye doctor appointment at 1:30 and I've already told my boss I'm going to that appointment and then going home to nap!  The weird thing is he told me their land line rang in the middle of the night too.  Not sure what is going on!

The weekend was nice, but I didn't do much.  I did not knit on my Miss Lime sock.  I did not knit on the Odyssey shawl.  I did not knit on the Canary Blanket. But I did start something new and when I met up with Dee on Saturday this is what I worked on:

Loving this yarn folks.  It is Tosh Twist Light and the colorway is "Plaid Blanket."  I'm using the same design I used for Fletch's Barn Owl socks (K6, P2) and these will be for Colin.  I managed to get through the heel flap and am up to the heel turn now.  No knitting at lunch due to leaving for my doctor appointment, but hopefully I can turn the heel and pick up the gusset stitches tonight and even knit a bit on the foot (if I can keep my eyes open!).

It did warm up a bit yesterday and I had high hopes of walking, but the wind was a bit much for me.  Today it is supposed to be 70!

This little delight popped up in our flower bed over the weekend:

Such a delicate and pretty crocus.  I wish there were more of them (our others are solid purple or yellow).  And we still have plenty of cardinals and other birds coming in for mealtime:

Love seeing them.  This morning checking on the hawks nest, one of them flew in with a mouse or some delicacy in their mouth!  No sign of any youngsters yet.

OK, I'd best try to do a little work before I have to leave.  Wishing you all a wonderful week!

  1. I've admired the Plaid Blanket colorway in the skein, but it looks even better knit into your sock! Wishing you a good nap, no more early am phone calls, and a good week!

  2. Those are my favorite crocus. I have a few of them in the woods and I always look forward to those beauties popping up.

  3. Sorry you didn't sleep well. I'm still adjusting to the time change and will be all week! Ugh.
The new sock yarn is gorgeous!
I'm very jealous of your crocus! Our snow melted again and it's supposed to be warmish all week so maybe I'll get lucky and see some tiny blooms here... but I doubt it.
Love those cardinals. We never get to see the babies until they start fledging. Then I have to keep a close eye on Relic!

  4. It’s hard to go back to sleep after the phone rings and your heart is racing. Hopefully, it won’t happen again. Nice job on the sock. I have t picked up my needles in over a week.

  5. I know hawks have to eat but I still feel sad for their catch. Hoping it's quick!!

Going to Cleveland next week so I'm hoping this wonderful weather lasts but we'll probably have snow that day, the only one in a month.

  6. Sorry you had such a rough night. Hope tonight will be better.

I love that little crocus. (There is a guy on Township Line Road in Whitpain whos who front yard is crocus and I assume, daffodils. The daffs aren't blooming yet, but the crocus are AMAZING).

  9. Love that yarn name, Plaid Blanket. It reminds me of Pendleton blankets and all of the clothes they have. My entire family worked for Pendleton at one time or another and my parents retired from there. :-)
I'm sorry you didn't sleep well. I'm struggling with the time change this year for some reason. Maybe it's because of worry over the world events, who knows?
Good luck at the eye doctor and I hope you get a nap in.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. That phone thing is weird. I wonder if it was a glitch in an automated system---we had a few days where we got nonstop automated phone calls from our garbage hauler telling us because of weather no garbage would be hauled.

  11. I hope you get that nap! I really love the new sock yarn you're using. The colors are great, and the diagonal striping is just AWESOME. (And that is just the sweetest little crocus!)

  13. It was quite springy here today--sunny and 65. We'll be back to cooler temps in the next days, however.

My new tulips and daffodils are just starting to nose above the mulch. I planted the bulbs in October, hoping for the best. Crocuses are always first, and those little striped ones are by far my favourites.

Hope you get your much-needed rest.

  14. Ooo! I love when they get all the mouse delicacies! Hope you sleep better tonight - I had to get up in the night as well and change into cooler jammies. GRRRR!

  15. You're so lucky to have Cardinals there. It's one of my big gripes in life that we don't have them here. I think they're amazing. The new socks are pretty great looking!
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  16. Thank you for the hawk update! If mice are being delivered, it is a good sign!
I love your socks WOW fast progression there!!!! We hung our wren house a few days ago and Fireman saw a bird go into it. I doubt it will go to the first looker, but you never know. I love the crocus. So beautiful. We had rain rain rain all day. But it is okay. We took our friend to do some indoor activities to keep him busy on a rainy day. His family was most grateful. Im grateful it was rain not snow. Fireman and I had to drive 80 minutes to pick him up and back to our house. Then bring him back and back to our house. But the family is dear to us, and we knew we were doing it for them all. I did get a lot of knitting done as we traveled.

The bird activity is very exciting this time of year--great signs of Spring. Great new sock!
