A Snowy Unraveled Wednesday 03-21-18

Good Morning!

Once again we are in the midst of a Noreaster.  It started snowing yesterday around 11 a.m. or so.  My boss left the office at Noon and told me not to stick around too long.  I had some lunch (God forbid I get hungry on the way home - lol) and left around 1.  This is what it looked like out our back patio door in the mid afternoon:

That's looking out over our "wetlands" portion of the backyard and the arbor is at the entrance to our woods.  Big, fat flakes were coming down.  Very pretty.

By early evening it had stopped, but the forecast still said snow all day Wednesday so I checked my work "weather emergency phone line" and learned that my office would be closed today.  YAY!!  No alarm.

Tyg woke me at 4:30 to go out and there was still no snow coming down.  I went back to bed and slept till 7:30 and by then it was snowing hard.  And it hasn't stopped.  The prediction now is for 8-12", and it is not supposed to stop till 2 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Welcome Spring!!

I have the crock pot going - filled with vegetable beef soup that will taste so good for dinner.  My plan is to read, knit, relax, probably nap, maybe go through my yarn again (or my patterns to cull some more).  IF I get ambitious, I'll do a little cleaning, but that's debatable at this point.

Bridget - Fletch heard on the TV that the roads in Phila are awful - I think there is more ice down there than out in the burbs.  I hope you were/are able to stay home today.

Someone at work mentioned the possibility of another storm on Sunday.  I'm not even going to think about that!  Wherever you are, I hope you are safe, warm and dry!

  1. UGH!!!!! We have a ton of snow on the ground right now and I am SO OVER IT. I wish I had thought of making some crock pot soup before it hit last night. That sounds like something that would make me happy right now but I got nothing.

  5. It will melt fast. I hope and pray for you all. I am so over this winter. How dare I complain? We had a warm Sunday and we chopped buckthorn and burnt it all day. It was glorious to be out. Now it is cold again. Sigh. You have it much worse. Glad you are at home!

  7. Still looking for that March lamb - now I'm wondering if the lion ate it?! Looking forward to seeing those two sweaters you're planning ... and (of course!) the yarn you choose for each. I LOVE going through my yarn and making plans about what to knit with it!

  8. I did get to stay put on Wednesday, but getting home on Tuesday, and getting to work today was really bad. Not so much the snow, but the frozen parts. At least at one point, I did see the person in front of me step into slush that went over her boots crossing the street, so I crossed at the middle instead.

I enjoyed every minute of my snow day. On the second day of spring. ;-)

  9. I had to drive to Doylestown yesterday, and while it wasn't too bad on the way down, I white-knuckled it all the way home. I wish I had been smart enough to put something in the crock pot. I do hope you didn't have to resort to cleaning!

  10. So glad you had a lovely snow day and good soup to top it off. Our snow fell just about the same way yours did and it was pretty. Also, glad I didn't need to go out. Thursday I hope to go see the Cherry Blossoms - they may not be quite out but the day's supposed to be near 70 degrees. Can't complain about that!
