Good Morning All,
Well, it's back to work for me today...but we do have a 2 hour delay, so I am still sitting at home sipping my morning coffee. A luxury!
Here's what it looked like in our backyard around 5 p.m. yesterday:
At times the sun peeked out through the grey sky and it really was a very pretty day. It snowed ALL day long. Fletch told me it stopped sometime late last night when he went out for a final clearing of my car and part of the driveway.
This is a shot from around 9:00 last night (still snowing then):
And it is beautiful today. The trees are all coated, birds are singing and feeding. Ahhh, Spring (I feel like I'm in New England!!). The reality is that it is not unusual for us to have snow in March - or even April - it just hasn't happened for a few years. And it never stays for long, so I will enjoy the beauty and stillness of it while I can.
I read a little bit yesterday (finished the latest By Hand magazine/book and a bit in Manhattan Beach) and knit a tiny bit (about 30 rows on the sock). However, I was not completely idle - lol. Fletch wanted me to sew some Velcro strips on a sweatshirt which entailed moving stuff off my sewing machine cabinet, getting the machine out, etc. That went smoothly. But...I just wasn't able to put things back on the cabinet so I started cleaning. Whew! I went through the bureau in the office room which stored (most of) my fabric, trims, beads, etc. I now have 3 LARGE garbage bags filled to overflowing with donation items. I put the beads aside for my friend Carol and a very small amount of fabric I will be sending out. The only thing piled on the cabinet now are some gorgeous dessert dishes that were my Mom's...which need to go to Colin & Mailing or one of my brothers. I also have a bag filled with cassette tapes - lol. I found a basket filled with them, and a box from my Dad. We have not had a tape player in years!! I have a large pile started of items to send to my brother in Colorado. Whew!
I still have a lot of fabric left. I found some I had (of course) completely forgotten about and now have plans for some tunic tops. And some gorgeous upholstery fabric I intend to use to make a jacket. We'll see...best laid plans and all that...
Meanwhile, I need to eat something, get dressed and then make my way into work. Tomorrow is Friday and that's a good thing!
All your plans sound good.Glad your snow day was fruitful. I took a PTO today.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like you had a successful snow day! It does look lovely, but I wasn't thinking that while I was shoveling last night and again this morning. John is traveling, I'm all shoveled out, so I'm declaring today my snow day. Safe travels; some of our roads are still pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteA delayed starting time gives the snow plows time to clear the roads. I hope your commute is a safe one and that your day goes well.
ReplyDeleteOur snow is hitting the roof from the trees in such big, loud plops it's giving me a heart attack. There won't be much left of it at this rate. It was pretty while it lasted.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have made good use of all those snow days - three cheers for you! (and for Thursday and ALMOST Friday!)
ReplyDeleteWow! We came home to freezing temps, but thankfully no snow.
ReplyDeleteA few others from our group at the resort were from the east coast and couldn't fly home. So they got an extra at the resort on the company's dime. Lucky devils (though honestly, I was ready to come home!)
That's the thing about "cleaning out" . . . once you get started, you get on a roll! Good for you, Vera. It sounds like you had a VERY productive day. :-)
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for Spring here, too.
ReplyDeleteYou really cleared out a lot of stuff! Good for you.
And then ............IT'S SATURDAY!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you might have gotten a bit more snow than we did. I think we got around 9". Steve shoveled the front last night and then this afternoon I shoveled the back deck. Man, that snow was HEAVY!
You all really got hit this time with the snow! We seem to have escaped with just a bit of snow. it was great! lol! After the earlier nor'easters we've had it was a nice change.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I admire your cleaning/purging energy--I hope some of it wears off on me!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a bit of snow for this late in the year! Very pretty if you get so stay inside! The clean out bug is still at work in you-enjoy it while it lasts!
ReplyDeleteboo to going back to work, but yay for the reading and the knitting! I got lots done on my socks while the toddler that I sit for napped. Glorious!
