Good Morning Friends,
The sun is up and we have blue skies! How was your weekend? Ours was typical which is fine with me. Saturday was a rainy day. Nothing hard, just a gentle rain on and off all day long. I did not sleep well Friday night and therefore didn't feel all that great on Saturday. So other than a couple loads of laundry, paying bills and roasting a chicken for dinner, I did not do much.
Sunday, however, I felt great and accomplished so many domestic chores. LOL. Vacuuming and dusting were done along with more laundry and scrubbing of floors. I had planned to bake some lemon blueberry scones, but someone (not me and not Mabel) had snacked on most of the blueberries. I did go out and get more blueberries, but never got around to making the scones...perhaps tonight.
I did, however, make a delicious dinner!!
While penne pasta was cooking, I sautéed some onion and garlic. Then added some white wine, sun-dried tomatoes and marinated artichokes. Let that cook a few minutes then added some asparagus, lemon juice and red pepper flakes. Next up shrimp went into the pan and once they were cooked through the drained penne pasta was added to the pan. It all was topped off with parsley from the garden! So good and easy and leftovers!!
In between rain showers on Saturday I walked out and cut a sprig of lilac. The whole house smelled lovely.
And I discovered that our Lily of the Valley are beginning to open, so I picked a few of them along with some grape hyacinths for a small vase. More heavenly scents!
Today I'm heading back over to help care for Iris. I need to get there a little bit earlier than sometimes because an electrician is coming at 11 to look at a few things the kids want done. Whatever you have planned, make your Monday a great one!!
Your delicious dinner combines all the things I really like; I may make that sometime this week! And when I'm done here I'm going out to cut a few of my lilacs so my house will smell lovely. Have a good Monday and have fun with Iris!
ReplyDeleteYup, sounds like a great weekend-the penne looks delicious! Have a good Iris visit!
ReplyDeleteLove the lilacs - I think it will be another week or so before mine bloom. I did notice some Lily of the Valley coming up though - I'm very happy because I relocated it all last year (it was still in its temporary spot from after the move) and I was a little worried it wouldn't make it.
ReplyDeleteWe had the same sort of weather -- Saturday was a good napping day! But the sun is out and is warming us up now. Your dinner looks and sounds delicious. You're welcome to come cook for me any time you like!
ReplyDeleteI bet your neighbors enjoy walking past your house when you are cooking!
ReplyDeleteOur weather was similar but on Saturday it was a deluge - and right when Dale was hooking up the camper. He got soaked, poor guy, Fred and George and I really felt terrible. LOL Happy Monday, Vera!
ReplyDeleteso much Spring to see - inside, outside, and on the table. Wishing you a good week with Iris ... and better sleep. Everything is easier when you're well-rested.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love lilacs and their scent? I wish they lasted longer. My Lily of the Valley are just putting on the flower buds. I hope your week with Iris goes well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet bouquet you created, Vera! The lily of the valley is just perfect with the lilacs!
