Hi Everyone,
Well, we are back to howling winds coupled with cold temps (32 this morning - prediction for even colder tomorrow morning). Good thing I did not put away any of my woolens yet! Oh and dampness too. Rain all day yesterday and more in the forecast for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Oy! Colin installed rain chains at their house and let me tell you, looking at them dripping can be meditative or just about hypnotizing!
I had roughly 4 hours at Colin & Mailing's yesterday. Iris is better at taking the bottle so she is not quite as hangry, but her naps are not all that restful or long enough. Colin is successful at getting her to fall asleep in his arms, but the minute he attempts to transfer her to the crib she wakes and fusses. But yesterday was the longest Iris was separated from Mailing and Colin was successful in getting Iris to drink 6+ oz from a bottle. Progress.
I took some of our spicy red lentil soup over for Colin & Mailing. He had made sourdough bread over the weekend and last night was a perfect night for soup and bread. In return, he gave me a couple of ribs he had cooked with homemade BBQ sauce and some cornbread he had baked in a cast iron skillet. So, dinner was settled for us. I sautéed some cabbage to go with it. Fletch pronounced the ribs and cornbread as real soul food! It's wonderful to have family who love to cook:)
So now it is Tuesday and time for a TNT update. The Kindness sampler saw a bit of love this past week.
It's hard to see, but a bunch more green has been added as well as a lot of brown (so much brown in this piece!). Since helping out with Iris, I don't have as much time to knit or stitch, but that's ok. Iris is so much more important and nothing is a race.
Fletch and I are going to do grocery shopping this morning and I will head back to snuggle Iris after lunch.
Make your Tuesday a good one!
Frankie and I were shocked by a spring "blizzard" on our morning constitutional! We both arrived back home entirely snow covered! Sigh. The only good thing about snow in April is it won't be here long! Ha! I am so glad that Iris is doing better... I had one that did not want to go down for a hap outside my arms (which made parenting his sisters challenging!) I found that a sling was the perfect thing... Sam slept and I could still get things done. Perhaps something like that will work for Colin and Iris?
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest a sling also, but now I'll second Kat's idea. Ryan never slept (at least not until he was 18 months old) but he would sleep in the sling. I also used it with Justin and carried him around until he was over a year old. At least with a sling I could do some laundry and get dinner prepared! I'm glad to get my Tuesday dose of Kindness and now I'm also hungry after reading about all of your delicious food!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to get some rain chains for our house. Of course - its SNOWING right now so there's no big rush here.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Iris is settling a little better. I'm sure she'll be sleeping well in no time!
I am glad Iris is adapting to the new schedule! I'm glad for you to be there with her, too. The stitching sure is developing nicely!
ReplyDeleteWhoa....that's a lot of stitching! I didn't expect that seeing how your helping out with the baby. My new grand sleeps in this crazy tent thing over his bassinet and I'm not strong enough to do a gentle transfer because of the drop so I had a terrible time keeping him asleep when I put him down. Don't get me started on having to zip the darn tent thing up. I couldn't do it quietly to save my life.
ReplyDeleteSo Awesome Vector Graphics
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're getting lots of Iris time ... babies are so smart AND cuddly! also loving all the filled in detail on your stitching. wow! It's spring again here, too (we had a bit of summer late last week - 87 degrees on Saturday!) and I'm also glad I haven't washed and put away the sweaters yet.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to spend time with Iris during this happy time in your lives!
ReplyDeleteThat's more than a bit of progress on your kindness piece! I'm glad to hear Iris is adjusting. I'm sure that by this time next week, she'll be napping better and have no issues with a bottle (it's got to be jarring to not have her mom with her, but it sounds like she's doing great so far).
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to tell you that we got snow this morning, so you might see some flakes tonight or tomorrow! I'm certainly hoping that's the last of it until next winter!
I am so over the winds which makes my dry eye worse. Yay for bottle feeding and less hangry. I get like that too when I am overly hungry :)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Mailing is suffering from "withdrawal" as much as Iris is! It's usually a tough go when moms return to work. Thankfully, all parties usually adjust pretty quickly. So glad you're there to help with that adjustment process. XO
ReplyDeleteHow nice you and Fletch are close by to lend a helping hand. Our son was not a good sleeper until he was almost 18 months old. It can be tiring when little ones don't want to sleep. I beg Iris figures it out shortly.
