Good Morning!
Welcome to Poem in Your Pocket Day. What fun. Choose a short poem - one that will fit comfortably in the pocket of your jeans, or one you can memorize. Better yet, copy it onto a scrap of paper and share it with someone today - preferably a stranger.
I overslept - or slept late - this morning. Luckily I saw Kat's post before I sat down to write this one. Because...she posted the poem by Billy Collins that I was going to post! LOL. So, I've chosen another great poem from Billy Collins, also taken from his volume of poetry called Musical Tables.
Departure
I wonder –
did you happen
to play something new
on the piano
just before you left
or was it the breeze
from the door
you left open
that turned the page?
Wishing you all a wonderful day. Make some fun!
A Billy Collins Poem In Your Pocket Day! This was a wonderful choice and I really need to read Musical Tables. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm glad that you were able to find another good one when your first choice was taken.
ReplyDeleteThat poem reminds me of my music stand sits by my spinning wheel judging me because I haven't touched my guitar in ages. I'm so terrible at it that I have to wait for The MIster to go somewhere so I can plunk away on it. Ditto for my piano.
ReplyDeletePerfect. I wish I'd read your post this morning so I could have carried a poem in my pocket today. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMusical Tables is a perfect book full of poems for your pocket! You will laugh, but I originally considered sharing this poem, but those singing frogs won me over with the hopes of spring!
ReplyDeleteA fun poem-I like whimsy!
ReplyDeleteBilly Collins is an easy favorite and this poem is perfect for a pocket. Thank you!
