Tiny Needle Tuesday 4/4/23

 Good Morning All,

Hard to tell what today is going to be like as it is still dark thirty out there.  My computer says it is 46 degrees out which is quite a bit warmer than yesterday's 20's, but I wonder if it will be sunny or cloudy.  Oh well, I will know soon enough!

Hey folks, it's Tuesday and time for a TNT - or Tiny Needle Tuesday - update.  Somehow I managed to get some more stitching completed on Ellen Harrison.

Some more gold filling and a few new motifs:  a cane (?), a red umbrella and a blue and red tree (what's up with that??)

The spotted stag (with an evil red eye) now has two front legs and the beginning of it's middle body!

An overall view.

There are still motifs to be completed to the right of the stag, as well as the rest of the stag.  And ALL the gold filling along the bottom.  It's surprising how long that takes!  Still, I feel as though I can say that I am nearing the finish on this one!

Just checked the weather app on my phone and it is supposed to be cloudy today, but in the mid-70's by the afternoon.  I may need to get out and do a bit of a walk!  What does your Tuesday hold in store for you?

  1. Oh, Vera -- you are getting close to finishing your sampler! It's really charming. It's raining here . . . but warmish. I'm hoping the rain stops long enough to get a nice, long walk with JoJo -- and I'd really love to start getting to my weeding. We'll see . . .

  2. The sunrise was lovely as Sherman and I ambled along this morning. But clouds were moving is as we walked. Sigh.

  3. You've made a lot of progress on this sampler recently -- it's starting to look almost done! It's supposed to be a beautiful day here, so I'm looking forward to getting out for a walk after I get some work done.

  4. I can just imagine Ellen with her vivid imagination and putting random motifs in her sampler here and there. Sunny and 70s here today, and I'm heading up to Ryan's to work in the garden. I'm hoping to get a good walk in to stretch out my back and hips after bending over in the garden.

  5. Clouds have moved in here today, but the temps will remain in the low 60s. I'll be able to get out and walk with no fear of rain or high winds.

No blue trees around--darn it. Your sampler is full of such random and amusing things.

  6. There are a lot of strange little things in that!

  7. We are riding the Wisco Spring Weather Rollercoaster right now! Sunny & 60 yesterday, cloudy & 40s today, a thunderstorm tonight, upper 50s tomorrow, windy & 40s on Thursday, etc., etc. (in your best Yul Brunner). We've barely gotten out of the 40s and now I'm looking at lots of 60s next week (I'll take it!).

  8. Love the stag! Jealous of your temps as we continue to have bands of sun and sleet.

  9. Wow - you are making such progress! Your stitches are so beautiful. It is cloudy and rainy here today, so I hope you're able to make it out for that walk!

  10. Regardless of the strange motifs, the sampler is interesting. I woke to three inches of snow, but I’m not complaining because towns to the north of Laramie received nearly 30 inches.

  11. That's the beauty of those old time samplers-nothing makes much sense on them but overall they are beautiful. Same thing with Dear Jane. The blocks themselves are a bit on the odd side but taken as a whole it's a breathtaking quilt.
It was so hot here today I thought I was going to die. We were power washing the house and I bet I've got a sunburn. I'm afraid to look.

  12. We went up to Clinton and sat along the river and enjoyed the sunshine, breeze and some iced tea.

  13. Very warm today. We raked piles and piles of sticks and branches, burned them for hours. Tomorrow, thunderstorm with ..... high winds! Whenever I get close to a finish, it takes longer than I expected before that final stitch. You're close!

  14. That is a beauty of a sampler although I have to admit that I don't like the red eye. It makes it look mean! :-)
Tuesday was crazy here! A visit to Mom. A trip to the vet. A high of almost 70 with a low in the 20's predicted for tonight. We have blizzard warnings 100 miles north of us and tornado warnings 100 miles east. I'll stay where I am, thank you very much! Ha!
    Take care my friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
