Friday Stuff

 Good Morning!

Gosh it is still so dark outside (and it is now 6:25 a.m. as I type this).  I've been up for a bit and my brain is foggy.  We were able to get our Booster Shots yesterday!  But we both woke up in the night with sore arms.  Did not have that with the first two vaccines, but if a sore arm is the extent of my discomfort, that's not bad.  I'll give myself a break for a couple of weeks and then will go for the Shingrix shot(s).  Oh boy - the fun never ends!

The afternoon yesterday became very busy work-wise and suddenly at 3:30 I realized I hadn't started the Brunswick Stew or made the Pear-Cranberry Cobbler!  I hopped to it and dinner was good.  This is the cobbler before we dug into it.

It was still warm from the oven and I had made whipped cream to go on top. Yum!

We still have not settled on a name for Mabel.  As you know, I love the name Mabel.  Fletch not so much.  Colin came up with several suggestions, so we will see what we settle on - hopefully this weekend.  Mabel really liked Colin (and vice versa).  Meanwhile, she (Mabel) was a sweetie this morning.  4 a.m. and she jumped on the bed.  Then she started purring so loudly I just knew I couldn't get back to sleep (plus a sore arm).  I came downstairs a little before 5 a.m. and put the coffee on and fed the feline.

Today is an open day for me - no conference calls which is wonderful.  I may actually try to get my hair cut!  It is driving me crazy and I'm tired of just pulling it back into a ponytail.  Hopefully I can find a place that can take me today.  Tomorrow Dee is coming over in the morning to meet Mabel (or whatever her name is/will be).  And Sunday I hope to go order my new glasses.

I'm glad it is the weekend and I wish you all a wonderful one - get outside and enjoy!!

  1. She's been Mabel in my mind for a while now, so I hope she gets to keep her name! An open Friday sounds very good, so I hope you can get a hair cut. Have a good weekend with Dee and hopefully ordering new glasses!

  3. I love a good cobbler. I made an apple one in the crockpot the other day and it wasn't too terrible. Not as good as one in an oven but me the new oven are still not on speaking terms.

  4. I think the name Mabel is so sweet (and it makes me think of Mad About You -- don't know if you ever watched it, but there was an episode when they had their daughter and couldn't decide on a name; someone's mother came to help out and had all these acronyms to remember things, the last one of which was Mothers Always Bring Extra Love -- Mabel!). Glad to hear you got your boosters and that you have a quieter day ahead. Happy weekend!

  5. I am with you... Mabel is just perfect for her! Yay for your boosters! I had a bit of a sore arm and a low grade fever with my flu-shot/booster (I got both on the same day) and I had a mild reaction to the first Shingrix vaccine... and a bit more of a reaction to the second jab. I think Kym was laid low by the shingles vaccine too.

  6. Perhaps you can agree on either May or Belle. That way, it won't be too big of a transition from Mabel for the kitty.

I'm crazy about anything cranberry. It always tastes good, and as a bonus, it looks so pretty.

  9. Whoa! Reading the comments, everyone is getting poked by needles. I have to wait a couple of more weeks for my booster because of the reaction I had to the first shingles shot.
We had our first frost last night and it's brrrr cold outside right now.
I hope Fletcher changes his mind. We're all thinking of "Mabel" as Mabel now and she really looks like one!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. Boosters aren’t available yet — nothing to do but wait. The cobbler looks delicious. I’m happy that Little Miss is settling in and seeking you out in the morning even though much too early. Enjoy your day.

  11. I think Mabel is a perfect name for Mabel, the old fashioned names seem to be coming back into fashion. She has a gorgeous face and such lovely markings, what a treasure she is.
