Weekending

 Good Morning!

Hard to believe this is the last Monday in September 2020.  Harder to believe that Colin & Mailing's wedding is less than 2 weeks away now!

So how was your weekend?  Mine was good.  Nothing special.  Fletch and I had planned to be outside Saturday - do some walking, go out to lunch, that kind of thing.  But rain happened.  So I stayed in and worked on some stitching.  Sunday was one of those back and forth days.  The sun would come out for a bit but then the dark clouds would roll in.  It never did make up its mind what it wanted to do or be.  We had more rain last night.  The rain was welcome.  It's been so dry lately that the yard is beginning to turn brownish.

I discovered a new (to me) poet over the weekend.  Badger Clark.  Don't you love the name?  I was thumbing through "Smithsonian" magazine and read this article and then I found a volume of his poetry to download for free on my Kindle.  I haven't looked at it yet, but I thought it could be fun.

Between rain drops and rain showers, I was able to get some archery in both Saturday and Sunday.  It feels good to be back at it.  I'm not great and I miss the target more than I hit it, but I'm practicing and having fun.  Usually the target looks like this:

But every once in awhile, I do hit a bullseye!!

One time walking across the yard to gather up the arrows I saw these:

Beautiful wings just laying on the grass.  They are now on my kitchen windowsill along with other treasured things.

I'm heading to the office a little later.  I have a bunch of stuff to print in color and some on the BIG paper (17x11) that my printer can't handle.  I also need Tom from IT to look at my laptop.  We have a sign-in verification system when we change passwords, but lately I've been getting the requests every single time I turn on my laptop.  And now, a text for verification came in at 2 a.m. this morning - something weird is going on.  Anyway, I know Tom is in the office Monday mornings, so I shot him a quick email this morning letting him know I would be in.  Hopefully he will have the time to look things over.

Wishing you all a great week!

  1. Badger Clark is a great name and I'm looking forward to reading that Smithsonian article more closely, along with some of his poetry. Arrows missing the target are good if they lead you to lovely treasures! And good luck with IT. It's great when it works, but can be quite a headache when it doesn't.

  2. I am jealous of your rain! We very much need it -- we've now officially gone more than two weeks without any. It looks like we might get some tomorrow, but probably not nearly as much as we need. But doesn't it figure that it rained on the weekend, when you probably would have liked to have been outside!

  3. Thanks for the link! I'm always looking for some new stuff to read.

We had a gorgeous weather weekend, so lots of outdoors time at the lake. The bottom is dropping out this week, so we made good use of the days.

Congrats on the bullseye! I'd never be able to even draw the arrow back, I'm sure.

  5. Your wings remind me that I didn't see any Luna Moths this year. I usually see them in August but not a one was around-not even their wings. I wonder what's up with that.

  6. Fun archery score! I love to collect butterfly wings, too! We had rain all day yesterday which yielded 3"--we needed it but it didn't help the humidity problem! lol

  9. Whoa! A bullseye! Great job Vera! The butterfly wings are beautiful treasures and I'm glad you kept them.
Computer issues are such a pain sometimes. We're dealing with issues too after moving into the trailer. We no longer have WIFI in the house and it's hard to figure out how to make things work. The printer is the most frustrating thing that we can't get to communicate.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
