Unraveled Wednesday 9/23/20

 Good Morning!

A milder morning for us - temp this a.m. was 50.  Much nicer feeling than 37!  And abundant sunshine.

Yesterday ended up being a very long day...and longer at the office than I wanted.  I was busy (thankfully), but my meeting at 1 p.m. was a total waste of time.  All that was done was a review of last year's procedures (which we all know and understand and have done for a number of years).  It's too late to make any changes for this year.  So why did we need to meet (for over an hour)?  Bill came in and pulled me out of the meeting for 15 minutes or so and that was nice.  But still...

I was surprised at how many people were in the office yesterday.  All masked, of course.  I saw Bobby (our CEO) for the first time in a couple of months.  His hair is longer and greyer - lol.  People with "cubbies" (rather than offices) have always decorated their areas with seasonal things.  The St. Patrick's Day decorations are still up because March is the time we closed our office.  Bill commented that we will probably re-open just around the time for the decorations to be appropriate!

Fletch and I sat on the patio before dinner and then he fired up the grill and we had nachos.  They are so good done over the grill - you can close the cover and get a real smoky flavor to them.  Delicious (especially with fresh jalapenos from the garden!!).

Well, it is Unraveled Wednesday.  No unraveling this week, but not much knitting lately either.

See my "Crazy Cat Lady" mug?  LOL  The Eye of the Patridge heel flap is finished.  The heel has been turned.  But only 5 rows of the gusset have been completed.  I could not keep my eyes open last night at all.  I actually went upstairs to bed before 9 p.m.!

I'm hoping for a slower paced day today with time to knit and/or stitch and time for a walk.  We'll see.

As usual, linking up with Kat for Unraveled Wednesday.  Be sure to check out her blog and the links for others to see what everyone is making and reading!  (We are still reading "South Moon Under" after dinner.)

  1. beautiful sock on the needles and the office description sounds eerie with the St Patrick day decorations still up! I think everyone has aged...

  2. I'm sorry to hear that someone thought it was a good idea to keep people together indoors in a useless meeting; hopefully that won't happen too often! Better not to knit on your sock when you are too tired. Mistakes get made and there will be unraveling - I know this well! Hope today is slower with more knitting!

  3. I know *I* feel much older since March! And I haven't had a haircut, either. I'm looking more and more like Lily Munster with her long witchy hair with swaths of grey.

Most meetings are pointless, I maintain. Send an email!

Nachos on the grill...! Your family makes food fun and adventurous.

  4. I hate meetings like that. I end up in so many meetings that could have been an email instead.

    Love the mug!

  5. Oh man, I'm finally getting caught up reading blogs and I just have to say that I'm really going to miss seeing that checkerboard deer when you're finished with this sampler!! I just love him! I'm sure there will be an interesting element to your next one, too. Haha.

  6. I went on Saturday and got my first haircut since February. She knew exactly how much it grew because of the clippers she uses. It grew 6 inches! It is so nice to have it short again.
Our numbers are going up again, both cases and deaths. I guess I'll be hanging out closer to home again. I was just beginning to get brave enough to go into a few stores.
Love that sock. I know what you mean about your eyes closing. The past two nights neither Dennis or I have been able to keep our eyes open either. Early bedtimes for us.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I so hate unnecessary meetings, and I seem to get pulled into a lot of them. Fortunately now that I'm working from home, I can knit my way through them! You will be on the home stretch on that sock before you know it.

  8. It must be so weird going to work in these circumstances. Daughter was just saying how it has been so hard to keep her rink up and running. The kids are so stressed they just cry all the time when you try to coach them. All the fun has gone out of the place she loved so much. These are hard times for sure.

  9. Getting dark sooner each day is affecting us already-glad you listened to your body and went to bed! Being at work all day will tire you out!

  10. I think it is a combination of less daylight and cooler days because I have been so tired, so early too!

    Lovely knitting as always!

  11. I love the little cat peeking from inside the mug!
I'm tired from all the cycling and paddle boarding and woods work. But I am not complaining because the weather is 80s and beautiful .

  13. That is so weird to think that the last I was in the office was St Patrick's Day and we were starting to think of ideas for Easter activities. It is such a different world now. Love you crazy cat lady mug! I am a cat lady with no cats so I visit my parents who have two while I wait to get one for myself. Love your sock so far, it looks great. Stay safe!

  14. Oh I used to hate meetings for the sake of meetings. I actually have not missed the three groups I used to attend meetings for and am going to quit attending my DAR meetings but continue to pay dues and be a member. Not sure about the other two. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  15. Such a lovely sock, Vera. I love the eye of partridge heel! (My favorite.) And the St. Patrick's Day decor . . . such a tangible way to "see" Pandemic Times. XO

  16. There is nothing quite like turning a heel on a sock. It's my favorite part of sock knitting. The color and pattern look like a good match. The St. Patrick's Day office decor makes me smile. In some ways the world stopped in March and in other ways it went right on.

  17. My hair is cut and my roots are white. Not a good look, but I've gone this far so I'm considering going the distance.

Nachos on the grill? I know nothing other than what Taco Bell gives me in a box!
