Unraveled Wednesday 9/2/20

 Good Morning All!

It is a drizzly one here.  Tyg came in this morning a bit wet and I can see the cars are wet as well.  Oh well, I'm heading in to my office in a bit, so it doesn't really matter to me.  But gosh I wish this stinking humidity would leave!  Yes, the temps have moderated a bit and at times it feels a bit chilly, but as soon as you start to move and do anything you break out in a sweat!

Yesterday I again decided at the last minute to go for a walk.  This time back to Oaks along the Perkiomen Creek to where it spills into the Schuylkill River.  There is a dam on the creek and I saw a Blue Heron standing on it!

I love that I captured his reflection too.  Not bad for a cell phone picture standing pretty far away!

My walk was pretty sweaty.  There were not too many people on the trail...only a few walkers and a few on bikes.  When I got back to my car and headed home it started sprinkling.  We never got heavy rain, but enough to drive Fletch inside (he was doing some yard work).

On to the knitting portion of the blog!  I have not yet picked out yarn for my next pair of socks.  I think it needs to be something Fall-ish, but I have not had a chance to look.  So last night as Fletch read out loud after dinner, I picked up my neglected Hellebore Hitchhiker.  It was so nice to work with this yarn again!

I love the pop of lime green in this.  So far there are around 28 teeth, so still a ways to go (still plenty of yarn left as well).  This is such a meditative and relaxing knit, but sometimes I find myself closing my eyes...not a good thing for me while knitting - lol.

Fletch and I are currently reading "South Moon Under" by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (the author of "The Yearling") and really enjoying it.  Published in the 30's I believe.

As usual, I'm linking up with Kat and friends for Unraveled Wednesday.  Be sure to head over to Kat's blog to see what she and others are making and reading.

Time to pour another cup of coffee (this morning I brewed cardomom black pepper coffee!! - so good), shut this laptop down and pack it up to go to my office.  Have a wonderful day!

  1. I'm with you on wishing the humidity would decrease. Slightly cooler and sweaty isn't much better than hot and sweaty. I love the thought of you knitting your Hitchhiker while Fletch reads and that coffee sounds delicious!

  2. We're getting rain today. I hated closing back up yesterday after two refreshing days of open windows, but the humidity was horrendous. I came back from my walk feeling drenched.

How lovely to be read to by your husband as you knit!

  6. Your Hitchhiker is so pretty!!!
If we don't dry out soon I think I will turn into a mushroom. We've got a major crop going on outside right now. They are everywhere.

  9. No humidity here but it's pretty hot. The 90's in September here is unusual and it's supposed to be like that for the next week at least.
I haven't knitted a stitch in two days. Life has been busy and emotional lately. Today I'm determined to do at least a few rows on my Pimpeliesse.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. That is an amazing photo, especially for a phone photo. Blue herons are so majestic!
I agree that the pop of green in your shawl really makes it shine.

  11. I really like how the HH scarf is coming along and how the colors play out. We're going to have a hot week but cool nights so all is well here. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  13. We're in another humid pattern here, so I share your frustration. I dislike feeling sticky all the time! But I think it's supposed to be nicer this weekend, so with any luck you'll get to enjoy that weather as well -- I'll do my best to send it east for you!

  15. That heron!! Loving the Hitchhiker -- those pops of green are my favorites, too. Our heat and humidity finally broke, and now it feels almost chilly sometimes. I wish the "in between" part was longer!!

  16. oohhh, that coffee sounds amazing! I LOVE Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings - had the delightful experience of visiting her home/turned museum in Florida years ago. She was quite the woman before her time (OLD blog post http://www.mere-et-filles.com/2012/04/cross-creek/.html)

  17. That coffee sounds intriguing. I love a spicy winter white chai tea. Herons are such interesting birds to see in the wild. They are so patient as they fish. And such a wingspan. Hitchhikers make such great projects and you chose the perfect yarn.
