Good Morning Folks!
How was your weekend? Ours was a steamy one. Yup, we are in the midst of the HHH part of summer (hazy, hot, humid). It took me both days to get a small amount of laundry done, the bathrooms cleaned and I think that was it. Oh yeah, we picked up a few groceries too (we were just about out of fresh produce and cat food). Other than that, not much was accomplished. It was just too darn hot.
Last night we had cold, left over chicken and farro. To go with it, I made a cold salad of cucumber, radishes and fresh pineapple with lime juice and cilantro. It tasted so refreshing!
Funny how the pineapple in the picture above looks like the color of mango. I bet that a mango cut up would taste good with cucumbers too.
I did manage to do a bit of knitting. Finally! I decided what to do with the Tom Foolery sock:
I knit 10 more rows of the pattern and then did the heel flap and turn. I'm now 30 rows into the foot, so I should (emphasis on should) be able to finish this sock in a day or two and then cast on for #2. The colors in the yarn are fun, for sure. I haven't tried it on yet to see what the pattern looks like, but soon.
But, no knitting this morning. I have a 10 a.m. conference call and a bunch of reports I need to run.
Meanwhile, how was your weekend?
what a happy sock colorway! We actually had decent temps on Sunday morning for an early morning walk and it wasn't too humid. Of course it's going to get awful this week :)
ReplyDeleteHHH here, too, and it continues this week. My weekend was spent finishing taxes. We owe everyone, so I did them up to a point in April and put them away until now. I should hopefully be completely done uploading and mailing within a couple hours and then I'm celebrating (probably by blanching five gallons of string beans)!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThe socks colors are fun, a great choice! Your salad looks refreshing, perfect for a hot humid day. The weekend flew by, a quiet weekend for us. Take care! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
Great salad idea! I made a cucumber, onion, tomato, and avocado salad with a rice wine vinaigrette. Also very refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThose socks are a knockout.
Really nice weather at the lake all weekend. We got a lot of projects finished, and the evenings were perfect. We were able to get the boat out for a couple of nice cruises as well.
Breezy and cool this morning after a brief rain shower. My days are beginning to run together. I’ve done some sewing but my knitting has stalled. Love how Tom Foolery is striping - such a colorful and fun yarn. I thought the salad contained mango. It looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteWe finally got some rain on the weekend. It cooled things off for a day, but now we are back to hot, sticky and gross.
ReplyDeleteThe sock looks great - perfect summer colours!
Your salad looks so good. I forgot to order any salad ingredients on my last delivery. We also didn't get any potatoes, cheese or smoked sausage that I had ordered. I'm not sure what's up with that but making dinner has been interesting. I've got half a cabbage left to make it until Friday. Good times.
ReplyDeleteThat salad does look delicious! And, that sock yarn... so bright and cheery! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
It was fairly cool here, only in the 70's and it was 43 last night. We had all of the windows open in the trailer and 3 quilts on the bed. Good sleeping. I know we'll miss that when we're in the midwest. Hot, hazy and humid there too. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe spent Sunday afternoon at the house. Dennis doing yard work and cleaning out the garage. Me packing what was left of Alex's things and the pantry. Still some canned goods left but they're coming to the lake and being given away.
Take care my friend and stay cool.
Blessings,
Betsy
Sounds like a good weekend even if it was hot and steamy. Ours was perfect temps and for some reason we almost never have humidity. I got some needlework done and just kind of floated through it all. :((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThat salad looks very refreshing. I never would have thought of putting that combination together but I am going to try it. I have a lot of cucumbers. I like what you are doing with those socks. Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteThirty rows into the foot! Wha hoodoo! Ours was a hot weekend too. I did get some sock knitting done as well. And paddle boarding. Gardening, it is non stop. But the benefits are showing now. Lots of flowers and they are attracting butterflies. Monarchs already! I snooped in the wren house...still no eggs or chicks. They are not perpetuating the species in my yard anyhow . But they sing, oh how they sing
ReplyDeleteNice weekend for you--the sock looks great-the colors are perfect for the h/h/h time of year; it even goes well with your salad! lol
