Monday Again

Well Hello There and Good Morning!

It's a little chilly this a.m. and quite dark.  I heard on the radio driving into work that sunrise this morning is at 7:20 a.m. - the latest it will be (Eastern time, Philadelphia location).  In a few days the sunrise will, minute-by-minute, steadily be earlier and earlier.  Before long we will be able to notice a lengthening to the days!

How was your weekend?  Mine was ok...Saturday I attended a memorial service for a co-worker, so that was sad.  Also, the weather was such that I never got out for a walk (Saturday was so foggy and Sunday was extremely windy and no sun until late in the day).  I did get some knitting done, but I haven't taken a picture, so that will have to wait for another day.

I had intended to talk about last year today.  What I knit and what I read.  BUT...I forgot to bring that information with me to work and even though it's not a ton of information, my brain can't remember it all.  I do know I knit a lot of socks (a lot for moi) and I do know that I read fewer books than ever, but that's about it.  So, that too will have to wait for another day.

However, I do have some things to show.  First up is a picture of one of the Christmas gifts that Fletch's brother sent him:

The frame is wonderful, but the picture is just the best!  This is Nanno (Fletcher's grandmother) holding Fletcher's Mother.  I love, love, love the whole 20's look to this picture - Nanno's hair, her gorgeous dress (look at the lace!), the strand of pearls. I can't remember the exact year that Fletcher's Mom was born - but it was 1921 or 22 I believe, so this picture was probably taken in 1922 or 1923.  I was lucky enough to meet Nanno (Fletcher's grandfather had already passed away by the time I met Fletch).  She was just the sweetest person and a fabulous cook too (the BEST fried chicken ever!!).

I also managed to snap a picture of my Amaryllis on the counter yesterday.

That poor second shoot coming up on the left is going to be forced into being stunted due to the earlier bloom above it.  I'm really enjoying this shortened version of this plant and the fact that it is no-maintenance (no watering)!

So, that's it for me today.  Wishing each of you a fabulous week ahead!

  7. I love that period photo! What a terrific gift. Family photos are special, and when they are such a representation of a decade like that, they're art, too.

  8. That is a very sweet photo.

We have a photo of Steve's great-grandmother and I swear she is wearing the ladies version of a stove-pipe hat!!! LOL

  9. That is a great photo. My Mom was born in 1922 and my Dad in 1923 but I have no photos of my Grandmother. She died when my Mom was just 14. It would definitely be a treasure to me to have a photo turn up somewhere.
Every year I say I'm going to keep track of the things I make but I always forget to write them down. My blog helps but I don't put everything on it because I make so many repeat items for charity I feel people would be bored. Well, my life is fairly boring anyway! :-)
    Have a wonderful Monday Vera.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  13. Grief is difficult and it melds into other areas of our lives. It is part of all of our lives, but a co worker is tough. IM grieving my fathers death...but in quiet wondering ways. I haven't cried in a bit. Maybe that's done for a bit. That photo is wonderful

  15. What a lovely Christmas gift. Those dresses of by-gone days were beautiful. I hope the weather cooperates for a walk. I feel so much better if I can get out and walk a bit but I hate to walk in damp/wet weather. No fun getting wet and even colder.
