Unraveled Wednesday 02-28-18

Hello!

Welcome to the end of February!!  And look what was happening in my driveway bed when I got home yesterday:

The first Crocus blooms!  In less than two weeks the clocks will move forward and we'll have more light at the end of the day (let's not talk about how it will be dark again in the morning).

Sigla is still drying.  I checked it yesterday and flipped it over...I'm betting it will be dry by the time I get home tonight.  Rain is expected tomorrow, but I don't think it will be chilly enough to don Sigla.  That will  have to wait.  I will, however, try it on again to see how it looks after blocking.

Meanwhile, I did cast on for a new pair of socks yesterday at lunch:

That's 15 rows of ribbing, so the cuff is finished.  This morning I was fooling around and attempted to do a Vikkel Braid but I had "issues" with it.  I should practice on a swatch before I attempt that, but I think it will look pretty just under the ribbing.  I'm not sure what these socks are going to be.  Maybe just plain vanilla with the Vikkel Braid or I may give up on the braid for now and comb through my library to find a pattern.  The yarn is the Malabrigo that I wound by hand after it snagged miserably on my swift.  It's very pretty and soft.

On the reading front I'm just about through This Book and for me it's been a bit off a slog.  I don't think the writing is all that great.  On the other hand, it's probably the perfect read for me right now - no concentration needed.  I'll be glad when it's finished.  I would give it 2.5 stars...maybe 3...just a bit too predictable for me.

Fletch is retired, but still occasionally does a bit of work for some favorite clients.  Yesterday he worked and came home with fresh bagels, a lemon cake and popcorn shrimp!  Apparently the couple had their grandchildren over on the weekend and this food was left over.  David told his wife to "get that stuff out of the house - I don't need to eat it!"  Guess who's going to eat it now?  Time for me to head into the kitchen and toast a bagel for breakfast.

We are halfway through the work week and tomorrow is the 1st of March - Enjoy!!

  2. What a lovely floral greeting! Nothing like that here, yet, but we have a lot of robins poking around. And daylight through 6PM is such a lift!

  3. Blooms, already? Yikes, it will be a couple of months before that happens here!

Hmmm, a toasted bagel with cream cheese sounds good.

  5. When The Mister was a mailman he was always bringing home goodies from the people on his route. I miss those days and especially a very certain rum cake we used to get every Christmas.

  10. We saw crocuses along Edge Hill Rd. today and there were snowdrops along the Pennypack Creek. That must mean spring is just around the corner, right?
