Unraveled Wednesday 08/05/20

Good Morning,

Blue skies this morning - quite a change from yesterday.  Isaias was a mess.  We had very heavy rain - 5" and it was coming down so fast.  Our outside steps leading to the basement were a waterfall and then something popped in one of our basement windows and the rain poured in like another waterfall.  We had 5.5" of water in the basement!  It drained out very, very quickly thank goodness.  But what a mess.

This was taken from the patio looking out to the back yard before the heaviest rain came.  Water, water everywhere.

Skippack, a town about 20 minutes from us, recorded an inch of rain in 15 minutes!!  We did lose power from around 1:30 p..m until 10:30 p.m.  We were lucky.  My office is still without power.  And the car dealership just down the road from us in Collegeville was under 2 feet of water at 11 last night.

Anyway, late afternoon after the storm had blown through, the sun came out and I managed to get a little knitting done before it became too dark.  I worked on the petty harbor Hawk sock.

It's coming along.

I'm not liking this new blogger...this is the first day the new layout has shown up on my screen.  Don't they know that change is difficult for older folks?  LOL

  2. You have your own lake in the back yard. Wow. I hope your garden makes it through okay.

New Blogger is...not great. I usually compose in html, and this new iteration does not lend itself to that. I'm struggling to discover what's so great about this change.

  3. Hello,

Wow, that is a lot of rain. Sorry about your basement. I think we had less than 2 inches here. I do not like thew blogger. Your sock is looking great. I hope today is better, take care. Have a good one!

  4. Holy Moley that’s a LOT of rain in a short time span! I’m not a fan of the new Blogger either. I can’t get the right side column To show up no matter how many times I try. Tags/labels are now time-consuming, and don’t get me started on inserting photos. . .

    The sock looks great.

I'm with you on the new Blogger. Very hard to navigate.

  7. we got about 1 1/2 inches of rain in the pool, not sure how that adds up to real inches? WE had steady rain all day yesterday and it was nice to watch, no storm damage and no flooding in the town.

  8. I had to go out and dig a trench through the mud last night down the front yard so the water would run off down the hill instead of pooling around the front of the house. Ugh. I spent this morning shoveling off the deck but the yard will have to wait. I've already got more mosquito bites than I care for this morning. I hate summer storms. Give me a good old snowstorm anytime.
I hate new blogger too. They made uploading photos so much more difficult.

  9. Gadzooks.. you got soaked. I hope nothing was ruined in the basement. We could use a good rain here as everything is dried up and our normal green is turning brown. I love the colors in that sock, very autumnal. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  12. I'm sorry you were without power for quite a while, but glad that the storm wasn't worse for you. I do like that sock, but definitely do not like the new blogger. Uploading pictures is a pita!

  13. Holy buckets that is a lot of water in a short period of time. I hope the power is back on and stays on. I'm with you I'm not crazy about the new blogger format. I like the sock. I think I knit that pattern once. The name sounds familiar. Take care.

  14. I don't like it either. Instead of all options and settings being visible as before, you have to search now. I still can't find revert to draft, update, photo sizing, or a video showing the new hidden options!

Sorry about the rain. Glad you didn't have damage.

  16. I'm sorry you had water invade your basement during the storm. It sounds like many were hit hard. At least you were able to knit.
Blogger let me go back to the old platform with the dire warning that EVERYONE will be swithched within a few months. I dread the day.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
