YAY for Fridays!!

Good Morning!

It's kind of grey-ish out and we are expecting thunderstorms today - or more likely tonight.  But, it is Friday - TGIF.  Especially on the first week back to work after vacation.  I am more than ready for the weekend.

I left work around 2 yesterday (had some minor surgery in the afternoon) and then Colin cooked dinner - grilled chicken, home-made corn muffins (delicious), and a BIG salad made with several types of lettuce from our garden and radishes from Colin's garden.  It tasted so good to be having garden produce.

After dinner Colin and I took a walk (about 3 miles) along the Perkiomen Trail.  The trail is paved and the grass is kept short next to the trail, but otherwise everything is left pretty much to the wild.  We saw red winged blackbirds and lots of phlox in bloom.  What really surprised me was we saw honeysuckle in bloom - I always think of that as a mid-through-late summer bloom.

Sorry the pic is so dark - we were on our way back to the car and it was after 8 p.m.

We also saw several pairs of geese.  One pair had 2 little goslings and the other pair had 8!  So cute.

Once home, I cleaned up the kitchen and the guys started a fire in the pit.  It felt good - the air was a bit chilly and damp.

I'm hoping for an easy day today (caterers just arrived with breakfast for us!!) and an early get-out-of-Dodge kind of day.  We are going over to Colin & Mailing's for dinner tomorrow to celebrate Mother's Day.  (Sunday is supposed to be a wash out all day).  They are fixing mussels in wine, home-made fries with home-made mayonnaise (I love me some mayonnaise on my fries).  Not sure what vegetables we'll be having, but I'm already excited for the mussels and fries - lol.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms - have fun!!

  1. Oh enjoy your mussels! I used to love them, but developed a severe allergy in my 30s, so I live vicariously through others enjoyment of them. I hope you have a lovely weekend and a good Mother's Day.

  7. Those goslings are cute, and that honeysuckle does seem early. Ours doesn't have buds yet, but honeysuckle smells so good that it's a lovely thing to enjoy early. I'm glad you get to enjoy another delicious Colin-made meal this week! Enjoy the mussels and fries, and Happy Mothers' Day!

  8. What a lucky lady. Both meals sound absolutely delicious. Colin and Mailing are sweet to spend so much time with you and cook for you too? WOW! You are really blessed. I wish our kids lived close enough to celebrate holidays with, (and everday life too).
    Enjoy your mussels and fries!
    Blessings,

  10. I used to work for New York fries and I remember the first time someone asked me for mayo to go with their fries. To me it was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard. I was about 17 and no one I knew EVER put mayo on their fries... ketchup, vinegar, cheese sauce, or gravy... yes... but mayo???? Anyway, we did actually have mayo for customers because apparently it is a thing. I've since met many people who mayo their fries, (and even one who eats mayo and potato chips), though I've never tried it. I'm not a fan of mayo in the first place.
