A Finish!!

Good Morning!

Yesterday was pretty hot and sticky, but we had a storm blow in after dinner and it really cleared the air.  The temps dropped into the 70's and this morning is beautiful!

Saturday I met up with Dee in Skippack for some retail therapy, coffee, knitting and lunch out.  Such a nice time - thanks Dee!!

Sunday morning I woke early and (weirdly) felt wide awake, so got up, put the coffee on and finished the second Sunflower sock.  I love these!!

The second picture - on the legs - is more accurate of the colors in the yarn.  I knit these on a larger needle (#2...but the larger #2), because there are only 54 stitches in the pattern.  They fit perfectly.  This is the pair with the different heel too - the garter ridge on either side of the heel.  Again, the fit is great!  I don't think the yarn shows the pattern very well...believe a solid color would be better for this pattern, but they are cute...they fit...and I love them.

I decided to pull out the Winter Sea shawl which has been marinating since we returned from our camping vacation in early May.  I knit one row and realized my stitch count was off...tinked back and thought I corrected it, but when I tried to knit the next row I was off again.  So...I tinked back the two rows I knit plus one other.  at that point I was finished for the day.  It is back in a bag and I need to count the stitches to see if I am at the right place.

I did finish the Alice Waters book (Coming to my Senses) which wasn't really about food at all (much to my disappointment), but it was a quick read and interesting since it was about the late 60's/early 70's.  A bit self-serving, but then memoirs often are.  Now I'm reading Brutality (a Fina Ludlow book by Ingrid Thoft) which I'm enjoying a lot.  Very quick reading, but good.  I think Kim is the one who mentioned this series on her blog.  I'll definitely look for another.

Meanwhile, I've got my mammogram in a couple of hours, so I need to do a bit of work before I have to leave the office.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

  1. That is a lovely, sunny pair of socks, and I hope your Winter Sea Shawl is learning how to behave during its time out! I hate all the worrying during the wait between the procedure and hearing results, and I hope your mammogram is clear of anything concerning.
