Good Morning!
It was a little foggy on my ride into work this morning, but the sun is now shining brightly and I think it will be a beautiful day. High's forecast for the mid-seventies which is much better than the 90's we had last week.
When I got home Friday, our Wisteria at the side of our patio had begun to open. There are many more blooms now and the fragrance is amazing:
This happens so fast. The week before I took this, the buds were barely an inch long. Our heat wave of last week really opened up a ton of flowers. (And, of course, everything is coated in lovely yellow pollen!!)
Saturday Dee and I met up at Backyard Beans for some coffee, knitting (a little) and good conversation. We hung out for awhile and then wandered down the street, stopping in a bookstore and then ending up at a small place for lunch. A fun day. I cooked dinner, but not much more was accomplished.
Sunday was grocery shopping, laundry and cooking. But...progress has been made on the socks: the first one is completed and the second one is down to the heel flap. YAY - maybe a full pair by the end of the week?
I always think that socks go faster once you get past the heel, but truth be told, my feet are so big and that foot is usually as long as the leg - lol.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!
I bet you'll get them done before the week is out. They are so cute! That's a great color.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhh wisteria. I'm sure Steve is sick and tired of hearing me yell in the car --- WISTERIA!!!!! LILACS!!!!! TULIPS!!!! Hey! I've got 34 years to make up for (although we DID have wisteria in Florida --- just not much of it.)
Your wisteria beautiful and your socks looks pretty darn good, too! My feet are also not very small, and I pretty much stopped knitting socks for my sons when their feet grew to size 13-14!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms! I love the socks and agree that once the gusset is done, the socks practically knit themselves.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors on those socks. I would have to be slowing down just to make the knit last longer.
ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing . . . what a little warmth and a little sunshine can do to bring forth the blooms -- in a hurry!!! Lovely, lovely wisteria. I can't wait for mine to bloom! (Mine still just looks ... dead. But I know it will come to life before I can say "Hello Sunshine!") Those socks are just so cheerful and happy! Love the colors. XO
ReplyDeleteSounds like you and Dee had a great visit! I almost always knit my sock leg as long as my foot-it looks balanced to me that way! (I have it easy cuz I knit toe up so I know how long to knit the leg!)
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you can smell something so lovely when you walk outside! That's the best.
ReplyDeleteI like the way your socks are looking - I'm betting they will go fast now, since it's the second one and you're in the home stretch.
I am so sentimental about Wisteria. My grandmother had a huge tree of it drooping over her side door. I would love to have my own.
ReplyDeleteThat yarn! I'm crazy about it.
I am so jealous of your wisteria! I need to add phosphorous to the soil to see if I can get them to flower!
ReplyDeleteYour wisteria is gorgeous.. it's one thing we DON'T have.. I need one! Love your socks, too. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteOh that wisteria is beautiful! It grows like crazy around here, but the blooms were spent a few weeks ago. But the sock is my favorite thing - I always thought the second sock went faster - once I actually started it :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had wisteria....lovely! So glad you are sock knitting and getting together with Dee. Hasn't the weather been grand??
