Hi All,
A quickie post to show you what the postman delivered yesterday. Way back in early February I was fortunate to win a give away on Glenna's Blog. Dover Publications took their sweet time delivering, but what a feast for my eyes:
The projects are way above my skill level at this point in time...but I can dream. There are 14 patterns based on the Tudor dynasty - the wives of Henry VIII and other women of the time. This is not the original publication from 1998, but a newer one from Dover Publications. Here are two of my favorites: first up Lady Mary - a gorgeous wrap:
Sorry for the glare from the flash on all the pictures -- again, taken at 5:30 this morning....
And here is Anne Boleyn:
You can see more of the patterns on the Ravelry link.
This is a great book to thumb through and get inspiration...and (for me) incentive to up my knitting game a bit.
OK, time for me to buckle down and do some work. Hoping everyone has a lovely weekend filled with Spring delights!!
I love Alice Starmore. I have many of her books but like you am intimidated by them. I use them for inspiration and maybe one day I'll work up the courage to give one a go.
ReplyDeleteAlice Starmore designs are a treat for the eyes! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are certainly eye candy - honestly, I can't imagine ever knitting something like that (colorwork is simply not my thing), but I can certainly admire the FO's!
ReplyDeleteI made my Mom buy that book when it first came out years ago
ReplyDelete(before I was knitting). She made me Elizabeth.
The book went out of print for quite a while and was going for CRAZY prices on ebay. It's nice that they've reissued it.
Gorgeous knits! They are too complex for my knitting skills, but I'm sure they would be a dream to actually knit.
ReplyDeleteAnne Bolyn looks like a VERY flattering sweater.
ReplyDeleteToo complex for me too, but very pretty on the eyes
ReplyDeleteLike you, I aspire to someday knit an Alice Starmore pattern.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a GREAT win!
congratulations on winning something! That is pretty exciting and it's lovely prize to win!
ReplyDeleteI have the book too. :D Love Alice Starmore! If you're into knitting podcasts, you should watch Fruity Knitting. She has knitted many Starmore creations, including a couple from this book!
ReplyDeleteLove.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I'll ever have the skills for Starmore-grade colorwork, but they are so incredibly beautiful! I've always loved her textured designs and that's a bit more at my level. ;)
