Hello!
The short work week is almost over! We are having a catered lunch today at work to celebrate the beginning of football season. You all know that I am not a sports fan AT ALL - LOL. However, I will enjoy a free lunch!
Yesterday's lunch saw a finish of the Watermelon Socks!
They are not the identical twins I once thought they might be, but happy fraternal twins will work. I think my friend Leslie will love these. Hopefully they will hold up well (cotton and poly). They were fun to knit and there is more than enough yarn left to add to a scrappy blanket (if I ever get back to knitting on that - ha!). Perhaps I should have made these a bit longer...
Last Saturday when we were over at Colin's I managed to get some shots of the kitters.
The cats love the bay window with a sill large enough to accommodate their bed! Talbot's favorite place (along with his cat tree in the sun room). Here's a close up of Talbot - he always seems to look angry or sad, but he's not, it's just the way he looks.
And Marcel, the goofball:
They both are so much happier in this house than they were in any of the apartments that Colin & Mailing have lived in.
What are your weekend plans? I am meeting up with Dee and we are heading over to the NJ Sheep and Fiber Festival tomorrow morning. I can't wait!! It's not like I need yarn or another project bag, or anything...but...next week is my birthday, so I'm thinking a little gift for myself is in order. I'm sure I'll find something. And the weather forecast looks perfect - sunny and temps in the upper 70's.
Whatever your plans, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Yay for free lunches and finished socks! Have fun tomorrow at the fiber festival!
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I could go to a fiber festival-have fun
ReplyDeleteI have serious fiber festival envy. I can't wait to see what you bring home! Araignee
ReplyDeleteFree lunch and a fabulous FO! I hope you and Dee have fun tomorrow and you find yourself the perfect birthday present. I'm still holding out hope that I may be able to get there for an hour or so Sunday afternoon, but if not, I know you two will enjoy yourselves and post pictures so I can enjoy NJ Sheep vicariously!
ReplyDeleteSweet kitty pictures. They do look happy. I love the socks and I'm sure your friend will too. They look perfect to me. You have to look really close to see they are a fraternal match and most non-knitters would never notice.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the fiber festival. Can you see how green I am with jealousy?
Blessings,
Betsy
Oh those socks!
ReplyDeleteFirst a free lunch and then a sock finish. Vera, you are Livin' The Dream! Hee Hee.
ReplyDeleteThose socks look terrific. Your friend will be happy to get them and proud to wear them.
Have a great time at the festival. I can't imagine how you'll decide on what to get!
Happy Early Birthday! Have fun at the festival with Dee. The watermelon socks are great fun - seeds and all.
ReplyDeleteNice close to a short week--the socks are incredible! Have fun at the festival; you and Dee will have great time!
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the NJ fiber festival and buy lots and lots of yarn!!
ReplyDeleteTalbot and Marcel are such beauties. My cats are very jealous of their bay window. These guys have the back door, but that's it. The rest of the windows they can't get into.
ReplyDeleteThe socks look fantastic! The recipient will be thrilled I am sure!
My birthday is Sunday, wish I could come to the fiber festival with ya. Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteJennifer
cats, sheep and fiber and a visit to your SONS place? Jackpot Lady!!!! Love the summer end watermelon timing of your socks
ReplyDeleteTalbot is very handsome, they are both beautiful. What a great window! Really deep and perfect for daydreaming and snoozing cats.
ReplyDeleteBravo on the sock finish.. I just love them! Those are two cute kitties.. and are very spoiled to get the whole bay window for them. Mine is packed with plants, but then again, I don't have a cat any longer. Have fun with Dee at the wool festival!
ReplyDelete((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Love the sock finish! Hope you had fun at NJ Sheep and Wool. I have FOMO. lol!
ReplyDeleteI hope you celebrated your birthday with a birthday cast on. Nice socks as a gift. I love watermelon stripes and watermelon for that matter.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish Vera and I love the photos of your beautiful cats. Hope you had fun at the festival.
ReplyDeleteThose watermelon socks turned out great! I just read Bonny and Dee's reports about the NJ fiber festival ... was thinking I'd see sheep here, too, but the cats will do ;-)
