Happy Birthday Fletch!!

Hi All,

Yup - today is Fletcher's birthday!!  I'm going to try to leave work early if I can.  He wanted a pineapple upside down cake, so I made that last night:

Yum!!

The weekend was busy with cat feeding, etc.  I did manage to get a lot of cleaning done which was necessary - lol.  Now I feel like I can go on vacation at the end of the week (I hate coming home to a dirty house).  Colin will be on cat feeding duty for Tyg while we are gone.

Colin & Mailing did make it home safely yesterday and were happy to have dinner in the fridge for them.  The crawfish etouffee turned out well.  I think their cats are very happy to have their humans back home again.

The most surprising thing that happened is that I (finally) finished the first dragonfly sock AND cast on for sock #2:

I'm really enjoying this yarn  - both the color and the mix of fibers.

The temps have cooled here noticeably, but the rain continues.  Everything is soggy - including my brain!

I have a few busy days at work before I take off, so I'd best get back to it.  Wishing you all a wonderful week!

  1. It’s been downright cold here but no rain, and we desperately could use some to put out the fires. I hope your week isn’t too busy.
    Blessings,

  2. Wishing Fletch a very Happy Birthday! If you put candles in that delicious cake, I hope he uses a birthday wish for an end to the rain and some real fall weather. Love that sock!

  6. I couldn't read another word after I saw that cake. YUMMO. I love pineapple upside down cake. It reminds me of Christmas. Growing up, our neighbor used to make a huge one on Christmas Eve and Daddio used to always sneak over for a piece before her holiday open house. I miss living in a neighborhood where people got together to celebrate like that. Neighbors were as close as family back then. Good times.

  8. Happy Birthday, Fletch!

Daily high temperatures have been in the mid-60s - jacket weather, but sooo pleasant. Lots of smoke still in the air. It was so thick on Friday that the street lights came on at 5PM.

  9. Yes it's jacket weather! Form 85 to 55. That cake looks fabulous. If I didn't gain another 5 pounds last week I would make it!
