It has been some time since I posted. Sisters' Weekend was marvelous, though very tiring - lol. My flight up to Providence was delayed due to mechanical problems, but only for an hour. Not bad. The flight was smooth, though crowded. The entire weekend seemed terribly busy - more so than usual - lots of running around and errands, out to eat, out to shop, prepping for a party Friday night (20-30 folks came over). My massage on Friday was perfect and we managed to get some shopping in - I found some cute tops, a pair of great ankle boots and a fabulous pair of shoes!!
They are flat and comfortable!! We spent quite a bit of time seeing Mom (the other girls Mom and my 2nd Mom) who is 88. She is having some major surgery this Friday, so prayers and fingers crossed that all goes well. Despite some major health issues, she still gets around and loves to cook. She made clam chowder and lobster rolls for us one night that were to die for!
My flight home Sunday was early. Fletch was staying at Colin & Mailings (they are on vacation and we are on cat-feeding duty for the week) and decided to just hang there since he knew I would be tired and just wanting peace and quiet. We ended up meeting for dinner at Stove & Tap on Sunday and then came home.
Laundry is done, but I don't feel as though I've caught up on sleep and relaxing. Part of the reason is that evenings I have been going over to feed the cats. It is about a 1.5 hour round trip in good traffic. That makes for a long day after working, but Fletch is going over every morning, so I don't want to ask him to do the evening feeding as well. Here are Talbot and Marcel (looking evil with those eyes!!) on Monday when I went over.
Not too much has been going on knitting-wise. These dragonfly socks have to be the slowest socks to ever be birthed! I started this sock in the middle of July and this is as far as I have gotten:
And there is still a second one to be made (or even just started!!). I'm a little over half-way through the foot, so hope to finish it up this week and cast on for the second. Most nights I seem to be too tired to knit and I'm too busy at work to bring it along for lunchtime knitting. I also want to cast on for the sleeves on my Juniper Top. One of these days....
I did finish reading Ordinary Grace and loved it. So well written and little nuggets of wisdom to be found. I'm more than halfway through Being Mortal and it is just wonderful.
So...work is busy and I'm only working through next Wednesday (9/26) and then am on vacation till October 7th. I'll work that week and then the following week I am in Atlanta Monday - Thursday. Booked my flights yesterday and need to book a massage at the spa today!!
Our weather is finally clear today and I'm hoping that things will begin to dry out some. Wishing you all a wonderful day.
You are busy, busy, but you do have great shoes! I hope you get some real relaxation time on vacation, and I bet you'll regain some knitting time when Colin and Mailing are back and you're not on cat-feeding duty. Enjoy a day without rain today!
ReplyDeleteThe days seem to blur when things get crazy busy. I hope you have time to recharge before your next trip.
ReplyDeleteOh, those shoes!!! To die for.....
ReplyDeleteYou have a busy, busy life. I will be praying for your mother she has surgery this week. Those socks are beautiful. I’m sure you will finish them soon. I also have a pair that has been hanging around in the project bag too long. Blessings, Betsy
ReplyDeleteThings are very busy. Will include your mom in my prayers tonight
ReplyDeleteThose shoes!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to get back into the swing of things at home after a packed-with-fun weekend . . . and I imagine kitty-duty just complicates matters. Here's hoping you've got some rest coming soon. XO
Love those fun shoes.. although the pointy toe looks painful.. lol! The sock you're working on looks very lacy and complicated.. bravo on making them. The cats really should do with one visit a day.. how long do you have to do that? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteYour girls gathering sounds neat...glad you had a good time and YAY for Moms! 88 and going strong. You’ve a busy schedule and it’s nice you get some breaks in between your comings and goings.
ReplyDeleteCheers~
Oh those shoes. I wear flats because I hate my height, but I have fat ankles and that style strap never fits properly. Elastic ones make my feet numb!! Good grief you are always busy!
ReplyDeleteTHOSE SHOES!!! They are fabulous. Glad you had a good sisters' weekend.
ReplyDeleteGREAT SHOES!!!!
ReplyDeleteBusy is nice, but why is it always all at once? Then months go by, and you wish something - almost anything - would come up! I'm glad your trip went well. I really like those shoes, and am [happily] surprised they are flat!
ReplyDeleteI hope your week settles down so you can feel like you have some time to relax.
woah! busy is good but I hope you can catch your breath at home now. Love the shoes and I hope your mom fairs well with the surgery.
ReplyDeleteSexy shoes AND lobster rolls? I am overcome with envy.
ReplyDeleteAs one commenter above mentioned, why do we get busy all in a cluster? Drives me nuts. I feel like I'm slingshotting from one thing to the next.
We're headed for MORE heat and humidity in NEO--oh. yay. Ugh. This September has been hideous.
